btw, unfortunately figure this info is relevant: hopefully the demonstrating students don't appear when we're there. It could be a horrendous on the streets. Glad I'm not driving. Shame really as troublemakers are simply that.

it'll be fine as long as one doesn't park a car in the middle of 'trouble' ...just avoid the demonstrations areas. and don't think Montreal will allow a lot again as they are getting very pissed off. One never knows, it's the UFC though that scares me because it's a big show that they may try to upset.

Years have gone by and Ive finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.
I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: A pretty move, for the love of God.
And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I dont give a damn which team or country performs it.

Asif Hossain @asifintoronto I'm told about 5,000 tickets were requested and sent to #TFC fans for the Montreal trip this weekend. #MLS
We are about to have a professional soccer game between 2 Canadian teams with 35k+ attendance with 5k traveling support. I'm loving this.
Where's a good place for a long liquid lunch before the game?
Anyone know where the students are protesting? also the st pattys day parade route? just trying to plan my route to get to and from my hotel.
Last year there were protests while we were there too - never any issue actually never in any of the areas where mostly everyone was boozing or traveling between.
The thing with chants when its split is it is very hard to coordinate the top and bottom - it takes a while for it to carry and it's easy for it to get out of sync and sound like all sorts of strange.

Just a thought, it may have been posted already:
If you get into town early and plan on taking the subway to the match, drop by a subway station early and buy your tickets in advance. They do not take cash and there is only one or two machines per station.
Last year it was a real shitshow just trying to get everyone on the train.
Are there still people who don't have his ticket in same as me.
When I was back in Montreal for the Voyageurs Cup last May I had a first hand experience with the protestors. I was taking Mega Bus back to Toronto after the game and after pulling out of the UQAM Berri bus station, the bus was held by police as a swarm of protestors blocked the intersection as they marched through. We sat still for about 25 minutes.

All you need to know about Montreal Irish day: http://www.montrealirishparade.com/
As for protesters, bad spots last year were Berri-UQUAM and Place des Armes.
I don't. I'll get tickets at the game from either a scalper or from the box office.
