Opportunity knocks again for Toronto-bound Russell

What's up with mariner and Bermuda players?
No connections anywhere else or only scout TFC has lives in Bermuda?
While Montral and vancouver scouted Honduras NT yetserday,TFC was scouting Bermuda.

    Just fire the FO.... PLEASE????

Ha ha the Bermudan footy pipeline, that's a good joke! I have a good idea: can the whole current team including coaches, managers, FO, and most players please just pick themselves up & move to Bermuda? I think they might be pretty successful in the Bermudan league. I've heard the weather is nice there as well. Let somebody with a clue setup a new MLS team in Toronto.

Didn't a poster on this site report from training that Russell looked terrible his first time around?

I know its only wiki scouting, but we are trialing a soon to be 26 year old player whose only professional experience are in the PDL and the league in Bermuda.

He would be one hell of a gem if he were any good. I doubt he is.

Ah, it's starting to unravel now.

Remember a couple of years back (under Winter), when TFC formed something of a 'relationship' with Bermuda Hogges ?

I guess it comes as no great surprise that PM is close friends with Hogges owner Paul Scope. It would seem reasonable to suggest that PM role in player recruitment.

Hmm... Freddy Hall's Wiki page has this tidbit :

Hall was allowed to leave the Hogges prior to the end of the 2010 PDL season to attend a trial in England at League 1 team Plymouth Argyle.[4]

Former West Ham United striker Clyde Best, one of the first post-World War II black players in British football, has been mentoring Freddy and exposing him to professional football since he was a youngster. Clyde Best and Paul Scopes, a Bermuda Hogges co-owner and a former semi professional player, have been instrumental in the Plymouth Argyle trials opportunity with Argyle head coach Paul Mariner.
    also this :

Paul Scope, co-owner of the Hogges, said: “Antwan’s trial came as a direct result of the burgeoning relationship between the Bermuda Hogges and Toronto FC. This has already seen the signings of Reggie Lambe and Freddy Hall to Toronto and we are giving TFC first look at our best players.

“Antwan is one of the best players in Bermuda and the timing was right for TFC to take a closer look at him. It is pre-season here and the Digicel is a ways off so it was a good time for Antwan.
    - source

So, Freddy Hall (previously known from a trial at PAFC), Reggie Lambe and now Antwan Russell (2nd trial), all up with the club from Bermuda Hogges.

This is PM's scouting network on show, folks.

How low can your expectations go ?
a ha ha heh he hoo.. ha

+1. Thank you for doing this every day. Posting articles that regularly contain "embarrased", "not good enough", and "eliminated" in their titles can't be particularly enjoyable.

And just to give you a general idea of how bad Bermuda is as a national team, they recently finished behind Haiti and Puerto Rico in Gold Cup qualifying.

Russell probably isn't good enough for the NASL, let alone TFC.

TFC entered into an affliation agreement with a couple of Bermuda clubs a couple of years back, I believe during the Mojo days. I can't remember the young player TFC was looking at then, but it was someone younger than the guys we're seeing now.

Scouting a NT with players that have already been developed is not the most worthwhile use of time. It's more for show than for any real purpose, and my guess would be it is more because the scouts want to go to a game free of charge than because they are actually doing a scouting report for the team. How do you know that they had scouts there?

Vancouver is looking to duplicate the success of Bernardez.

I guess TFC wants to duplicate the success of the Freddy Hall signing.

    Thought this article said it best;
    http://www.thestar.com/sports/articl...ansplant-kelly

I was watching at a pub and when McKenna made those halftime comments a few of us commented we hoped he wasn't coming to TFC in the offseason. For all the good I have seen from him that was shocking to hear from our captain.

For TFC, I'm sure the 'need to see' factor increases dramatically when you find a player from Bermuda.

wtf! Bermuda? do they really have a clue on what they are doing!
Did Anybody see the other games! Good quality players from Costa Rica, El Salvador and Mexico...National team members playing in the home leagues!
Why there are not scouts in going to these countries. So moronic, Im so disappointed. Im no looking forward another losing season.
Here is what your scouting list should look according to our resources, mainly Concacaf countries since MLSE are to chipos to go to South America
-Mexico - Best league in our confederations, talented players but could be expen$ive.
-Honduras - Best physical homegrown players.
-El Salvador - Best skillful players but less physical than hondurans
-Costa Rica - Best organized league in C.A
-Panama - upper coming futbal nation, they finally found out that baseball thing they had going is not going anywhere.
-Guatemala - *just a courtesy call

Everywhere else you might as well go to Brampton or Mississaga and get player from any beer luague there! trust me they'll be a lot better than these no bodys from WhoCare leagues in those islands!!!

I'm sure you could find 5 keepers better than Freddy Hall in the CSL.

I'd takle Srdjan Dkekanovic back over him (sorry if I butchered his name).

oh, wait... I just thought of this... Hall rolls the ball out to Lambe who then launches it forward for Russell to ultimately can't get his strike on target and the ball sails out the back of BMO field, another victim of the Bermuda Triangle...

    Ah... I kill me... LOL...

He's probably going to end up being their national team coach one day.

He already flamed out in League 1 and is destined to do the same in MLS with TFC. Who else would hire him after that?
