Default Toronto FC Academy vs Montreal Impact Academy; Friday, September 14th; 8pm; Downsview

Calling all TFC fans. The Academy is currently sitting in 3rd and Montreal is in 7th...a big win against Montreal could hit them hard in their chances for a playoff spot (2 points clear right now). There is nothing better than giving Montreal a nice beat down, so I hope many of you will join the half a dozen or dozen people who have been going to the last few games. The academy is exciting to watch and games at Downsview are $$$FREE$$$. It is a good opportunity to see how the 4-3-3 should be played as well!

Yup, I went to three games last week: 2 TFC and the TFC Academy on Friday. I had way, and I mean way more fun at the Academy game than both TFC games combined.

    And after all:

By the way, there is no smoke or pyro at Downsview, for those wierdo's who don't like that sort of stuff.

you need to go to the academy game then go to tfc the next day; after watching the academy, you will realize how much more entertaining they are then the first team

Very true. Less long ball, more possession play and this weird tactic called 'passion'.

Oh, and they often put more balls in the net than the opposition. A new idea that makes me all happy at the end. Feels weird...

True. The overall atmosphere is a lot better at academy games than TFC games.

Hard to care about the Academy when it appears the team doesn't.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think he doesn't give a rats ass about the academy?

His refusal to play the players from it, at all costs.

He would rather play with a shortened bench than even dress some of the Academy graduates.

Yeah, but doesn't change what is actually happening with the current academy; they still have Winter's footprint and shape; they play the 4-3-3 better than the first team ever did; they keep the ball on the ground for almost all the game; and they play with flair and technique and never back down despite being out physically matched by their opponenents game in and game out; you dont need to care about the academy, but if you rather watch a Toronto FC team win and play entertaining football, you might want to check out the academy...best part about it (when its played at Downsview) is it is FREE; $$$000

You have to drive across the parking lot to get to the pitch. You can't miss it. Follow the signs, it is a bit tricky finding the place. It is right in the middle of the park, or feels that way anyway.

Yup, you've got to drive around the bend as Sheppard turns. As I recall there is a set of lights where you turn.

There are no amenities. A few porta potties and some bleachers. BYOB. There is also no security, so no worries. I usually bring a coffee cup just to be respectful to the family sensibilities in the crowd.

You get what you pay for, and since we pay nothing...

Good thing I backed out last minute (also I believe they had Downsview Subway station closed).
