Great love does not exist without joy and without great suffering ,that's why One club is worth only as much as its fans !

We don't need a DP at the position. We need two solid pros who won't be exposed or overwhelmed. Hell, Tyrone Marshall was a "good enough" CB in this league for a long time on teams better than TFC both before AND after his stay here! Imagine if we'd kept him an Dunivant together through 2011.

In 2010 we could, conceivably, have had this:

    Dunivant-----Cann--Marshall------Attakora

With Attakora capable of filling in at CB when necessary and Nicholas Lindsay emerging as cover at LB. That's an MLS back line that wouldn't cost an arm and leg, has experience mixed with a bit of youth, and has fullbacks who can defend(!) at the expense of not being very dynamic going forward. Andre Hainault is hardly a flying right back for Houston when he's playing in his regular position there; you don't need to have great offensive full backs to play good football. Dunivant's uesful enough going forward for LA.

Of course, so far as I can tell, we got rid of Dunivant because JimmyB had to be a starter somewhere, Marshall because Mo believed he was going to sing a better replacement (and didn't mind playing some of the multiple d-mids he collected out of position as CBs), and we all saw our relationship with Nana fall apart. So much mismanagement over so many years! God damn Mo!

While i like the article and agree with the need for a CB i still cant overlook our midfield. We are just to slow and not able to boss other teams in the middle of the park. I like Frings but we need a long-term solution, i also like Dunfield as he complements a good skilled player like Frings but does have flaws as we all know. I guess the point im making is that Defense is team oriented just like offense, it is much easier if you have atleast 50% possesion, forwards that scare the oppositions and midfielders who can shield the backline. Aquiring a CB will help a lot, but will that just make us better defending and still resort to being onslaughted by the oppostion.
