My friend who dosent follow TFC at all, maybe been to 2 games this year, just texted me the comment of the night!
"It would seem the next logical step would be to kill dany k and kocic, make dunfield el capitano and put johnson on dancing with the stars"
It gave me a good laugh coming from someone outside the soccer world
Ben Rycroft @callitfootball Also, from source in Dallas - FCD has about $150-200K under the cap. In MLS math that means, if approved, TFC is picking up salary
That's not really the point I was trying to make. I'm not trying to defend de Guzman's contract in any way shape or form. I was referring to the posts talking about signing Mckenna to a low DP contract. The point I was trying to make is that either someone is worth a DP spot or they aren't. There is no difference in limitations imposed between signing a 500k DP and a 5m DP. They both look the same on the salary cap.
So the question isn't whether or not Mckenna is worth a low DP salary, the question is whether we should be using a precious DP slot on Kevin Mckenna, that would look the exact same against the cap if it was used on a high DP salary player.
off topic - but I've always been pulling for JDG to work out in Toronto. Never happen. Unfortunate, but that's football.
Mariner has recently stated that he has targeted multiple players to add to the roster. It could be two CBs and a MF. I just hope that he alleviates the log jam on the backline because the current roster is terribly unbalanced.
McKenna as a DP would just be wasting a DP again. He's good but he's not DP good.
Well, seeing as he was walking anyway at the end of the season...
As usual, watch him start playing some of his best football like all the others that have departed this city.
A "low level DP" is the worst option for TFC as anything after the DP cap hit is irrelevant for a club that brings in the cash hand over fist for the league and the club.
They over paid DeGuzman for sure, but a big impact player costs the team the same as a low level DP, and it's the big impact player that we should be hoping for since we have filled the clubs coffer's to over capacity with complete incompetence in management wasting it.
Rycroft just posted a tweet:

Claiming to break a story doesn't make it so. Hilariously desperate stuff
Obvious jab aside. He doesn't seem to think McKenna is coming here.
Soo much offloading in the past week(s)....me thinks were finally in for something that doesn't disappoint....did I just jinx it?
JDG was an excellent player. His pinpoint shots into Row Z are of an other-worldly class.
Best two days ever? A stoppage time winner and this guy is outta here.
Who's up for a "De Guzman's ass is gone" TFC scarf? No? Just spitballing.
FUCK ALL OF YOU.
i was planning on sleeping.
John Molinaro @JohnMolinaro BREAKING: Julian de Guzman's agent just confirmed to me a minute ago he's been traded to Dallas. #TFC

Just got this don't know if it's been confirm yet on here, cheers Julian wasn't a fan but thought you were decent Goodluck.
Id take McKenna, but we have to sign atleast 1 really good player and 1 decent player
This move is perplexing. I'd suspect this is not somewhere Julian has been eyeing for a while. I'd reckon this move means he wants to keep playing past this year but I would be VERY surprised if he stayed in this league.
I had high hopes for JDG till his 3rd season of mediocrity. To me this will always be a case of a player move motivated by the home-town factor superceding a lack of respect for this league of ours.
And I can't see JDG becoming a Jeff Cunningham or Maicon Santos.
See you in September for Canada, Julian!

FORMER FULL TIME KOOL-AID DRINKER
Isn't it just TFC renting a DP slot from Dallas? I am sure we are paying virtually all of JDG's salary. We are not getting anything of value back, and we may well be sending something else the other way as part of this. Why else would they do it?
What JDG wants would not have come into it IMHO. He was a bust, it's no surprise, he has been available in two expansion drafts.
