Sooooooo, there's this news:
Now to be honest, it's not a bad looking crest. I actually like the thought that went into each particular element (especially the hawk). That said, I do have two concerns. Firstly, is the KIA logo actually a part of the crest? I get that the academy plays at the KIA Training Ground and that's okay and all, but is it a fundamental piece of the team's identity? If so, that's weak as fuck. Secondly, I have to wonder if a logo change is around the corner for the senior team as well. If this season ends on a bad note, it would certainly seem like just the distraction the club would offer up to deflect attention away from the myriad problems going on at BMO Field. The new Kia Toronto FC Academy logo will become a symbol of soccer excellence, one that all young footballers in this country will aspire to wear and become a part of. The brand integrates elements of Toronto FC and speaks to the style of play being taught at all levels of the Academy and Toronto FC's top-to-bottom ‘football first’ philosophy.
Housed at the new state of the art Kia Training Ground, the Kia Toronto FC Academy, will look to develop the next generation of Canadian players through coaching, training, technology, equipment and support, further reinforcing Toronto FC’s and Kia’s commitment to soccer development in this country. For more information on the Kia Toronto FC Academy please click here.
