MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
Dickov and Sukur up front
One might also argue that ice is a little tougher on the body than FieldTurf and they play 82 straight games on the stuff.
Look I hate the turf also. But only for the reason that we can't sign players to play on it. Here is a world class player that actually wants to come and play here despite the turf.
Sometimes we make it seem that anyone over 30 who steps on the plastic pitch is crippled at the end of 90 minutes... which clearly isn't the case.
Dunno if you noticed, but we played 3 at th back against Shitcago, and previous to that we have been using our wide backs as extra Mids most of season.
Brennan and Wynne have been playing the whole damn pitch this year, and no matter how fast Wynne is, he will never be able to be everywhere. He makes mistakes simply because if anyone runs the pitch from one end to the other, makes a cross and then runs all the way back to defend, he's going to make a mistake or two.
And Jimmy just can't do that kind of thing, even though he wishes he could.
Velez is in the box and scooting back on every corner/free kick.
Bottom line is, in Carver's effort to score goals, he has been sacrificing defense and relying on Suuton and Edwards. A striker will help settle things down and let the back line be a back line again.
Let's hope he plays for TFC so we don't have to read about another missed opportunity due to the damn turf.
NOTICE: Wager with STB: OVER 2 shots on goal in the First half wins a Pint at HT.
Yes. Fieldturf is just an excuse. Players dont sign here for other reasons, it's not becuase of the turf. Tons of players in europe practice on field turf 6 days a week in training and then for 90 minutes once a week they play a game on so-called "nice grass." You actually believe that it's the turf that they're so concerned about, get real. They play/practice on fieldturf 95% of the time.
so who goes from the senior roster? Smith again?
CIM BOM BOM!!!!
If this is true, it's fantastic news!!!!!
^^ Was wondering how long that would take!
SIKILMIS CIM BOM BOM
I personally love Sukur, he's been a favorite of mine for years, and I'd be thrilled if we got him.
Hey guys...My first post on the board. I've been a seasons ticket holder since the start and love the community you got going here!
Anyways, just wanted to say that although signing young guns would obviously be ideal, I like the idea of bringing in some players who have reached the point in their career where they want to settle down, put their kids in a good school, etc...These type of guys seem to stay happier longer. When your heart isn't in a city completely (maybe you have dreams of Europe, etc...) you over-emphasize the problems you might be having.
I'm sure Sakur has been through enough drama throughout his career and would be happy to play for some amazing fans and to be living in a world-class city. Great move it happens.
^^ Agreed for the most part, but in terms of fan support.. he's going from insane to, basically tame.
There's a huge Turkish community in TO and surrounding areas. I'm sure he knows some people around here and has the low down about Toronto! We'd be lucky to get such a world class player!!!
Deniz,
you got any chants or songs for sukur?
Also, when are you getting your BJK ink??
(Mansiz - that's f'ing hardcore getting your teams logo)
Does it seem consistent that Mo goes after strikers with a short shelf life? Dickov, Sukur, Huckerby....
Anyone else think he might be lining up someone at a year from now? It could also be the nature of the DP position, but I have a feeling he might be lining a particular player already.
I think Sukur is a good fit because Mo has seen what a body like Dichio can do in this league. Now make him faster, more skilled and a better scoring touch and we've go a monster in Sukur.
got email back from the journalist Ali Okanci... Will translate soon and post..
