Default Today's News, Mon. July 14

Slow morning, but with the transfer window looming tomorrow, things will surely heat up on the news front:

    Knight: The Ibee Ibee shake

A soccer goal actually brought tears to my eyes last night.

Young Abdus Ibrahim – over from Ethiopia, not yet 17 – took a brilliant turn pass from Amado Guevara, rounded the hottest goalie in MLS, and tapped home a perfect roller for his first goal in the big time.

Late goal continues TFC's road woes

PA SportsTicker Published: Monday, July 14, 2008

John Thorrington snapped a tie in the 92nd minute to propel the Chicago Fire to a 2-1 triumph over Toronto FC on Saturday.
Chris Rolfe opened the scoring in the sixth minute for Chicago (7-5-3), which moved past D. C. United (7-7-1) for sole possession of third place in the Eastern Conference standings. In addition, the Fire snapped a five-match winless streak and evened their record at home at 3-3-1

And on the possible transfer front:

    Dickov Mulling Over Blackpool Offer

The future of Paul Dickov is still up in the air, with the Scottish striker said to be still mulling over whether to accept an offer from Blackpool or MLS side Toronto FC, or possibly hanging up his boots completely to start a career in coaching.

Ben is certainly of the belief that the glass is half full. To a large extent I agree as we do have a decent squad. The brainfarts that we suffer at the back would be a moot point if we scored 2 or 3 goals every match, and therein lies the problem.

Whilst young Ibby looked like he could be a solution to our scoring woes, we cannot hang all our hopes on an untested 16 year old kid who is still developing his physique and game. You need to bring kids thru gradually - witness Stevie G or Rooney a few years back, or else they can fade and burn out prematurely.

Let's hope Ben is right. Rest the 1st team for the friendly as we need 3 points against the Saint Josie natural disasters Sat'di

^^ Much agreed on both major points. If we scored first, or could score fairly regularly we wouldn't have as many defensive errors. Once we get scored on you see a lot of the players lose the 'hunger'. Also with Ibbe, great effort, great finish but let's not put too much pressure on the kid. Give him a super sub role, but don't start him please. For the sake of his long term career. We don't need another Lombardo situation.

We're still in a playoff position, despite the loss. 8th on a single-table.

MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Hey Shauno, First Israeli and Palestinian leaders shake hands at a summit, now City and United supporters agree on something...wtf????
I guess it' s the "altogether altogether " thing eh...good to see FCUM doing well, btw, I have a lot of respect for the lads fighting against the prawn factor in the game.
    Cheers
