    Default Saputo Stadium

looks like they got themselves a nice little stadium. nowhere near as impressive as houston's, but a step in the right direction none the less. first game there is happening in a little under two weeks on the 16th against seattle.

Wowza are those current photos? I would think they should have had the field in at least by now since two weeks is not long at all.

Joey S. said on a local radio show that Saputo Stadium will open on the 16th and it will only be 98-99% finished... the stuff not completed won't effect the game day experience

They have a roof so that the 'Impact fans can't spit on people outside the stadium or throw seats at them.

    An always reliable thread topic:

[Insert team name] is building an amazing stadium in [insert location]. It has [a roof/drink holders/deluxe grass/comfortable seats/a great supporters area/an in-stadium pub/laser light shows]. Why can't [TFC/ML$E/Toronto/The Exhibition Place/The Federal government/The Provincial government] give us one? We deserve it because [we used to be great supporters/we used to have great attendance/our fans drink a lot].

    Stir/reuse/recycle.

If that's a roof, it's as big as one over our west stand.

HAHAHA. you gotta admit though, the houston stadium is fucking nice.

half assed roof indeed. it may do well for the sound, but they may be better off stringing umbrellas around the pitch.

Hardly. BMO Field doesn't really have a roof, it's more of an awning that covers the press box and maybe a couple of rows at the top and maybe 3 sections wide. Who does it protect, maybe a couple of hundred people?

Saputo doesn't have a complete roof but it does extend the length of 3 of 4 sides of the stadium and probably covers several thousand seats (see above). Sound at Saputo will much significantly better than at BMO Field with this set up.

i think the corners being filled in will help improve the atmosphere more then anything. Our open corners just let the wind come blowing through 112 and 111 and take the atmosphere out with it. To make things worse, were right on Lake Ontario shore, must be the windiest place in MLS!

The irony is BMO Field cost over $60 million to build, while Saputo only cost about $40 million (I believe it was $17 million for the original structure, then $23 million for the expansion).

I can not stop thinking what an amazing day it is going to be in Montreal, starting off at Schartz's for lunch followed by Euro semi-final and pre-game beers at McLeans and then a great night, the Reds first trip into the New Saputo Stadium. Looks great, can't wait.

I can't imagine our away allocation will be very large.

It is section 112, you can order it right now, some of us were given 119, which is actually the Saputo family section in some sort of confusion but they offered to exchange them when it was realized what was done.

they could of extended the roof more, but still nice stadium overall, small compact, mostly closed in and clean.
