Default A new futility record to break

The league record for the longest overall losing streak is 12 by the New York-New Jersey MetroStars in 1999.
    http://www.cleveland.com/columbus-cr..._worse_to.html

This will be a difficult task, even for TFC. To beat the record, they will have to lose the next 5 league games (the V-Cup match against Montreal doesn't count).

(BTW, this poll is tongue-in-cheek, don't take it seriously).

Funny how a Cleveland newspaper has to point that out (intended for Crew fans of all people). Fuck Ohio.

Perhaps we weren't specific enough when we made the banner that said to make history...

Well, I really only see two chances that they have to actually win before 'breaking' the losing record.

They play Philadelphia on May 26th after playing DC the previous week. Philly is probably the weakest team other than TFC at this point in the season and we're playing at home.

Then they play Sporting KC and Houston before playing New England on June 23rd at home. If they don't win that one, the record will be broken. They play in Montreal the following week and after that, well, they play Portland at BMO Field on August 15th. If they can't win by that last game at home, then I'm not sure they will be mentally capable of winning by that point for the rest of the season - they will simply assume that they will lose since after 24 straight defeats, I don't think that anyone's psyche can take that kind of hammering and stay optimistic.

<Edit: The way I see it, this is going to be our Year of Hell.>

Did MLS have shootouts for tie games in 1999?

Maybe wins are too far out of our reach, maybe the league will give us three points if we manage a tie?

If Winter is shown the door in the next week or so, I could see us at the very least getting a draw against Philly. If we lose to DC in the next league game, which I fully expect us to, and stay the course with Winter we will beat the record.

Depending on what's going on behind the scenes, could even say they took "lets fight together" the wrong way as well. lol

something tells me that they still care about this rivalry more than we do.
meh, whatever helps their 2 dozen fans sleep at night. in other news, if im going off of tickets sold as attendance (like we do), why do i consistently read that they're pulling out 10-14k fans? if 10-14k are tickets sold.. HOW MANY OF THEIR FANS ACTUALLY GO TO GAMES!?

If we don't beat Montreal on Wednesday evening, I'm expecting the ax to fall on Thursday.

We have a ticket with an opponent labelled TBD for May 23, which is the final of the Voyageurs Cup.

If we're not in it, MLSE may just have to hand money back.

And they don't like that very much, do they, precious?

Oh but think about this........TFC wasn't in that MLS cup final we all had tickets for either, were they?................

Expect that to be a "credit" or discount to Liverpool match. You'll have jump through hoops and argue with at least 3 diff account reps to even get anyone to understand you want cash back. The concept is unknown to MLSE and their staff.

Wouldn't surprise me if MLSE made a deal with the Impact and said those tickets were valid for the Montreal leg of the final

No...but it was a game at BMO Field. If TFC are not in the Voyageurs Cup, there won't be a game at BMO field that we have tickets for. As for the Liverpool game, what will they do for people who've already bought tickets?

    If we keep Winter around:

Toronto FC could be the only team in the league to have a manager who didnt make the playoffs within 3 seasons.

This is a great record to break, because it requires so mauch patience and hard work.

Atleast when we had our goal drought which seemed to go on for years we managed to grab a couple points.

Exactly the reason I didn't sign for the pack to automatically purchase all the tickets for me.

What's the longest winless streak? We are now winless in 12 MLS games going back to our last win on September 17.

Here's another record of futility that TFC holds, I did not know about this one until now:

TFC is the only team in MLS history that lost their stadium home opener in their own soccer-specific stadium:

    Couple things of interest there.

    1) We haven't even broken our own record.

    2) RSL, NY and LA are top clubs in MLS and all did this in recent years. Probably means MLSE is going to raise prices.

But it felt like a win. It was Dichio's debut. South end gave Eddie Johnson a beer shower.

We had been so putrid until that game. Next 12 games we won 5 and drew 4, it might still be our best 12 game stretch ever.

The 12 games after that, you see above.
