Brilliant performance from lads tonight. They left it all on th pitch tonight, happy for the win hopefully this will be the turning point of the season.

Side note as I was leaving I saw a flare and a couple of seats fly down from the L'Impact fans, I hope the cops beat the shit out of them. No class what so ever ... Tic Tac Tabernac Who The Fuck The Impact

I was in row 16 in 127, where were you? Gotta agree with these comments. But my friends was telling me before the game that the North End Elite is not really functioning as a supporters group anymore. What's the story with them?

Will highlights be posted of the match? I was at the game and noone has any idea why Eckersley got sent off. Neither did anyone on 590 when they were discussing the game. I actually checked back in the thread and someone said it was a stomp. Was it after the play? I know the foul got called against Montreal. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts who was watching it on TV.

BTW, I'm still standing by my "Fire Winter" beliefs.

spent the first half in 104. Montreal supporters were great, they stood and sang the entire half.
that said, while I couldn't hear 112/113 from the north end, you could tell they were into it as well. that's the problem with BMO the sound doesn't carry from 113 to 110, let alone the north end.
What a difference Frings makes when he is offensive. that second goal was all him. Not sure if you could tell from the south end, but after the corner, he kept it in play along the line, leading to the goal.
Winning feels great. Nice to see that energy again. And the tick tack cheer was great.
A group in 110 had a cheer that involved celine dion and c--t, but due to the wind I couldnt make out many other words.
    Great times indeed.

I think the biggest thing that bugged most of us watching that call, including Forrest on SN, was the only reason a card was given was the Impact player showed off his injury. That is not professional refereeing.

Totally agreed! I've been saying that I like the players, and the team should be playing a lot better. so what gives? Why can this team play SO well in cup matched, and look awful in league games? I just don't get it?! Tonight they attacked straight from the kick off, And even when Eckersley was (very harshly IMO) sent off, they kept attacking.

Why haven't they been doing this the last few league games? TFC need to go out and attack at home, they need to own BMO!

I just worry that DC will beat us next game, and they will back to square one again! I don't want this team to be a one trick pony playing well ONLY in league games. We HAVE to play like that in league games.

It'd be so easy to write off this team if they didn't have performances like this.

I think Montreal played very tired after game at KC on Sat, but no excuse for them. They shit the bed big time, not being able to score with a man up. They gassed out around 75min mark and it would have been embarassing score if it wasn't for Ricketts saving their asses.

Very proud of the lads. They all played with their hearts and fought for the crest.
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

What a fucking high, I am going to ride that for a bit. Brought some friends for their first game and they LOVED it, totally sold!

What a game, I was pissed when they dropped back and played defensively as I think you should play like it is nil-nil until the end of the game, we could have had 3-0 easy.

RSL they played well, Chicago too.

We can do it, maybe, just maybe Winter was right and 4-3-3 is the way to go as long as you are flexible in its application.

I just checked the replay. What a brutal red card. Ecks had possession of the ball, Montreal player came from behind, got his foot between Ecks and the ball, Ecks could barely see him since the guy came from behind and Ecks was looking forward in the direction he was running, Ecks' foot hits the guy's leg as a result, Gantar gives a free kick to Toronto (presumably for the tackle from behind) AND a red card to Ecks.

Ecks did nothing after the play -- I thought there might have been a stomp or something -- but no. So essentially the ref called a foul in favour of Ecks, and a red card against Ecks, for the exact same play.

BTW this is the same David Gantar who today had a red card rescinded by the league, first time ever, from the RSL - NE game.

Sorry to bring the mood down, but a lot of shit went down after the game. I don't know all the details yet but:

    - my wife was spat upon twice as we walked by the IMFC section after the game

    - I saw the IMFC fans throw a lit flare at others walking by.

    - someone on twitter is reporting that 30 IMFC fans assaulted a group of RPB's leaving four of them injured. <--- (EDIT) heard nothing more on this, likely not true

    - I saw security and possibly police fighting with IMFC fans after the match. A number of them have been arrested, by some accounts.

I am sure more of this will come to light, but plainly IMFC fans need to be banned from further travel to BMO field or this violence will escalate. And I mean it 'will escalate'.

Again, sorry to be a downer but I am really pissed off right now. I hope our members are ok and not badly hurt.

so its all cupcakes and sprinkles tonite in TFC land isnt it? we beat an expansion side. at home. whoopee. newsflash: WERE EFFING SUPPOSED TO BEAT EXPANSION SIDES AT HOME. and the official website says "heroic effort". look they can spin it any way they want, were the laughing stock of the league. we still havent won a league match in 8 EFFING TRIES. and even worse, WE DONT EVEN HAVE ONE SINGLE EFFING DRAW IN THOSE EIGHT GAMES EITHER. FUCKING BLACKBURN WON OR DREW 15 FUCKING GAMES THIS YEAR AND THE SUPPORTERS PROTESTED MANAGMENT AND STEVE KEAN ALL FUCKING YEAR. EVERY FUCKING WEEK. AND THEY ONLY WENT DOWN ON THE SECOND LAST WEEK. AND WHAT DO WE DO??? NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. WE CELEBRATE A ALMOST MEANINGLESS WIN AGAINST AN EXPANSION SIDE. GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK. WE SHOULD BE THROWING CHICKENS ON THE PITCH.

AND BY THE WAY, IF WE LOSE THE NEXT GAME AGAINST DC UNITED ON THE ROAD (WHICH THERES A GOOD CHANCE THAT WE WILL), THEN WE HAVE TO WIN AT HOME ON THE 26TH AGAINST PHILLY TO AVOID TYING THE ALL-TIME MLS RECORD FOR FUTILITY (MOST LOSSES IN A ROW) -10. LOSE THAT AND THEN ITS OFF TO KANSAS CITY FOR PROLLY ANOTHER LOSS. WHICH WOULD BRING US TO 12. AND COUNTING.

yeah we are fine, are you okay?. though they thought luke was gonna attack the impact fan with the flags luke had. becasue as soon as we saw the flare me and him ran to ee what was going on. Luke kicked the flare out onto the streets, and a bunch fo tfc fans almost circled the impact fan, until the policeman totally decked the impact fan and took him down.

sorry to hear about your wife hope she is ok. they threw a chair that almost hit a woman. they also had a smokebomb I believe that went off during the game. hwo the hell can they allow that shit. I hope Montreal gets fined for that shit. security was very slow and ignorant. Only after the 2nd or 3rd chair got ripped off did security block the railing.

^^^ I think the-lower-eastsider might need to get his keyboard fixed.

Other than that, I agree we shouldn't get too high about the game tonight, reality will hit us again soon & let's see how well that turns out.

Just to note: that "expansion team" hadn't conceded a goal in 290 minutes before this game, and they beat the best team in the league this past weekend. Just sayin'...

    Play nil-nil to the end.

Good friend played for CWNT and came with me and she almost exploded, you play defensively and you get eaten.

They went back to offense for the last 10 and it was awesome again.

If you play decensively you are going to to give up chances, if you play offensively they can score on counter if you don't support the back properly but we did all night so far so no, not even being up 2-0 with 10 men, maybe 12-15-0 you can start to play defensive but not until then.

I'm pretty sure that part is pure fiction (I hope it is!). It was reported by the same fake account who is claiming RPB accepts bribes from MLSE.

I fully agree with you in most circumstances, if you're having success taking the game to them, why start to defend at 2-0 and let them have the ball and create chances? By 80 minutes tonight though, we had some seriously gassed players, it's easier on tired legs to hold formation and defend than continue moving back up and down the pitch as a unit trying to attack as well. Letting them push further forward allowed us some great chances on the counter to kill it off with fresh legs off the bench. Good use of the subs tonight IMO.
