Uneducated assumptions about Nicol's style and philosophy are based on the fact that he's scottish.
He's not longball orientated, he's one of the most decorated defenders in football and he played on one of the most creative passing teams of all time. He also read this league, respected its limitations and put out great playoff sides year after year.
He is not John Carver, and he's infinitely more capable than the current clown who'll be doing us all a favour and resigning in ...........

Meh, regardless of what Nicol's formation is ... never found his football to be that appealing. He may well be the MLS manager of the past and not the future.
It may just be my bad memory about Nichol's strategy...
