Would TFC be an improved team without Koevermans, JDG and Frings?

Wouldn't it be preferable to spread the cap money around to ensure greater depth? I have advocated for Designated players in the past, but that was before the likes of Mista, Jdg and Koevermans were recruited. Right now every team is better than TFC, we are at rock bottom, the norm is simply inadequate. I know I will take flack over including Frings in this argument, but the guy is 10 years beyond his prime for heavens sake! How can you build a team around him?
