Well, that was.... Familiar territory. We know that the team can rise to the occasion when needed (like the win in LA) so it makes it even more frustrating to see so many misfires. We haven't looked that inconsistent since the days of Mo

also since we are supposedly a gender inclusive organization when are we going to start including the sunshine boy in the opening post? if we're going to link to a picture that objectifies women shouldn't we do the same for men?

    I enjoyed it.
Flares in the hand of a supporter will not happen anytime soon, but i was glad to see them take that first step in taking the atmosphere up a notch. timing is everything though and the start of the game isn't the ideal timing. But as I said, it's a start.

Nice extended highlights of the Cdn women's friendly yesterday, 2-1 victory vs. Brazil.

Watch the CWNT beat the Brazilian highline defense twice, with ease...

EDIT actually they did that at least 3 times, but didn't score on the other chances.

how does this get the atmosphere moving?
did you really think you were going to post that, and someone wasn't going to ask that?
the confetti cannons, the smoke they use, and now these flares. are fake. it's all fake to make it look like something that isn't there.

I tweeted Paul B last night to complain about the flares. It all blew right into our faces in 115. People were gagging , kids were gagging. I accused him of double standards as whenever the fans use them we are told they are a health and safety hazard. I get the fact that this was "managed" and no flare was going to set fire to a shirt or scoot accross the floor, but what is the difference if the smoke and sulphur comes from an illegal one or an approved display? Dumbass move by the club and a case of pot/kettle next time supporters get shit for lighting a flare.

Sounds like Paul had had a number of complaints and that the club may regret that move.

I vote we start with Sunshine Boys that have names that start with a D and end with AMIAN and are TFC fans/Red Patch Boys.

Well for starters the flare bar looked a lot better than the stupid smoke cannons and the confetti combined.
It also got a large cheer from the crowd - maybe not the supporters, but the other 10K thought it was enough to get their mouths open and scream. to me that is momentum to get people off thier asses and into the game when kick off happens.

As I said in my post - it's a step in the right direction. It proves that pyro is allowed in the stadium as long as it's controlled. Again it's the first steps.

I am aware that this is a message board and when things get posted there is a possibility someone will respond to it. That's why I posted it.

Jesus, people will call and complain about everything...

I feel bad for Toronto FC, I really do. If they did nothing, people would complain - if they try something, people will complain...

Honestly, they CAN'T WIN. No matter what they do - people will complain...

I heard someone at bmo complain about the fly over yesterday - they said it scared them...

    WTF guys...?

    :-)

Unfortunately because most of things (on all the levels) done by the club are done half ass and very amateur, people have plenty of reasons to complain.

Good point I don't see anything wrong with this.

Is there a Sunshine Boy link? Point it out to Denime and I'm sure he would add it for the ladies and others who would be interested on the board.

Also, I don't know if looking at pretty ladies is exactly objectifying them. That seems like a leap and an assumption on your part.

No one objectifies women better or more so then women themselves. Who do you think all those ads in Cosmopolitan, E-talk, The Inquirer, The bachelor/bachelorette or whatever trash is popular these days is aimed at? It's aimed at women to sell stuff and they eat it up happily. Especially young women.

    QFT!!!!
Alot of people are for the use of flares. We know that no way people that aren't licensed in pyro are going to be able to use them. Get over it. They gave the people that are for the use of flares (I include myself in that group) what they wanted. They met people in the middle when they didn't have to. Give the schmucks a brake people. I understand it was a bad weekend but must we complain about everything and anything? Im surprised I haven't heard any complaints about a shoelace coming undone.

I sit right in the middle of the pitch on the East side at the very top / last row. The guy beside shit himself. It looked like the plane was coming right for us. I was saying my final prayers and preparing for death.

What was the Mexican team that sounded an incredibly loud train horn at their home game, whenever the opposing team (e.g., TFC under Preki) got into their half?

Can we arrange a flyover like that whenever Santos gets into our half on Wednesday? Except a bit lower?

I didn't even see the plane until it was almost over the east stand. I'm in the west stand, first deck. I had on my cap and my hoodie, so I had quite the brim over my face. I heard this roar from the crowd and I was like "why the fuck are they yelling?" Then suddenly the plane comes in front of the brim of my cap and it was awesome. One of those speechless moments.

it was pretty fucking epic. I felt like I was in some WW2 movie. I half expected something to fall out of the bottom and blow us up.
The fucking epic part was when it got into the center of the field it took a hard right...I then half expected it to crash into the east stand.

You can see it at around the 10 second mark of the game in 6: http://www.torontofc.ca/video/2012/0...se-earthquakes

I missed it, being underneath this at the time:

    Attachment 2971

There were several people near the top chanting I Can't See instead of TFC (Clap clap clap).

It was a great effort, if a bit large for the area. There were some people, those trying to hold it down, who were afraid they were going to go parasailing unintentionally.
O, Maple Leaf around the world, You speak as you rise high above,
Of courage, peace and quiet strength, Of the Canada that I love.

Bright flag revered on every ground, The Maple Leaf forever
