    Default New Houston Stadium

    http://houstondynamo.io-media.com/

not trying to rim another team, not trying to provoke an "OMG THEIR STADIUM IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN OURS !!1!!1eleven" argument, but fuck their stadium is nice.

the stop behind the goal where there's a covering is the supporters section. looks pretty snazzy.

When it opens in 2012, the 22,000-seat stadium will be the first soccer-specific stadium in Major League Soccer located in a city's downtown district."

    Where's located BMO field?

Edit: Well, my bad, looks that I'm the idiot, because the area where BMO is, is not considered downtown.

You could probably call BMO downtown, it's pretty subjective. In the context of other MLS stadiums, in very centrally located. Where's the imaginary downtown line start?

Our stadium is downtown but really downtown.
I'm pretty sure downtown's western border is Spadina. Some argue it's Bathurst, but that's it. Our stadium is just outside those borders.

Whether a stadium is "downtown" or not is immaterial.
The question is ... can you get to it easily?
Is it within walking distance of enough mass transit hubs to give you a way to get there and out again easily?

In those respects BMO does fine.
Unfortunately here in Ottawa we have no such facilities.

Nice looking stadium. I like the idea of having two bowls for every section as i believe you can get better support organized in the tighter section. Image how unifided 112 would be if we departed from the top half of the section. Same would go for Usec and NEE.

From the greater context of the GTA (miss, oakville, pickering,) sure it could be construed as is.
But from Toronto proper no its not.

meh, whether BMO is in downtown or just a few kilometres outside of this imaginary downtown line isn't really important. BMO is right in the city next to the QEW, main Go Train Route and Street Car Routes. Couldn't ask for anything more then that.

As for other soccer specific stadiums such as LA, Dallas, Philly, Salt Lake City, Colorado, Kansas, and Chicago i don't think any of them even play inside the city lines let alone downtown. Good to see Houston actually playing in the heart of the city.

good to see Houston finally getting a stadium.... they had to move San Jose because of stadium issues... then they played in that college football stadium. Those fans have waited a long time for their own stadium. We should consider ourselves lucky we got a decent SSS right from game 1. I sure can't complain about the views from my seats.

It all depends on your perspective.

For folks that live in Northern Ontario, Peterborough is part of "Toronto."

It's hard to argue that BMO Field isn't easy to get to compared to some MLS stadiums in the middle of nowheresville, and there are a lot of interesting restaurants and such in the neighbourhood.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

if you map the distance between the downtowns of both cities and the stadiums, there's barely a few kilometers difference.

Now this is a nice looking stadium with plenty of room for expansion. Completing the seating full circle over time looks like it would be no problem.

thats is fucking nice. Kansas and New York got nice stadiums as well but they just aren't right in the city like Houston is. I think once this stadium is complete it will join my favourite stadiums in the League with the old school Portland stadium!

I know some people say renovating BMO field stands, interior work, and adding a 2nd deck, closing in the corners, adding some roofs exc. is a pipe dream but Toronto is going to need to renovate at least some of BMO field in the next 10 years or less if they want to keep up with the new wave of modern stadiums in MLS.

Not a a criticism, just an observation. Houston fans are over the moon about it and rightly so. It's made me more more likely to go to an away game there, I imagine that is true with others around the league as well.
