Default FourFourTwo Wasn't Impressed with a TFC protest

    The World's Daftest Demos
Sometimes, demonstrations are just rubbish. Take the glitz of the MLS. HOw did Toronto FC fans decide to voice their worries about their franchise being edged out of the league at the MLS All-Star game? With a 'slient protest'. That'll show those loud Yankees.
So would this be considered accurate reporting from FourFourTwo?

    Link or it didn't happen.
"Failure simply isn't an option at this stage. TFC pushed its chips to the middle of the table when it splurged on Bradley and Defoe and reinforced its bet by making savvy acquisitions elsewhere. This collection of players is capable of delivering on the promises made during the close season. There are no more excuses available for TFC. Only success will continue the process of atoning for the past and establishing a higher standard for the future." FOX Sports

People weren't upset about being "edged out of the league at the All-Star game" so the whole framing of the issue is wrong. Also, there's a cultural divide - the writer obviously doesn't understand how lacking in atmosphere most MLS stadiums are and how Toronto is the exception to the rule. Silence here is a statement. Agree or disagree with what happened, consider it a triumph or failure in retrospect the fact of the matter is that leading up to the game a lot of people (team and league officials, TV people etc) were very worried.

funny enough, we get mentioned again....

    Canadians do satire
Toronto FC have regular gripes with the MLS - the playing the USA but not the Canadian anthem at the all-star game, for one - so these Canucks are happy to point out their advantages over those damn Yankees at ever opportunity.
A particular fave is: "We don't pay for healthcare/La la la la." The perfect marriage of political comment and childish raspberry-blowing.

Isn't this really, really, really old news? I assume they are referring to when we hosted that waste of time game?

It was something that happened years ago. Is there a point of going over this again, or would it be better to let it die? Lets focus on the future.

There's a convenience store down the road from my house that doesn't pull old mags from the shelves. You can still get issues of GOAL and whatnot from 2008. It wouldn't be unlikely for someone to pick one up thinking it was new... maybe this is what's happened here.

Have they ever been to a football game outside the USA? That kind of chant is standard.

^ At the end of the year we got the attention of our FO. That was our bottom line. The Yankees can say what they will, but all our protests and bitching produced changes.

The best was when FourFourTwo ran Prizby's letter on TFC ticket prices and ran a picture with it, of us at an away game (Philly). FFT#198.

I can legitimately say that my picture was in FourFourTwo (but you'll need a magnifying glass to see me).
