the link wont work for me,
is this the gambian keeper???
what makes him better than Frei???
Hope there is more to the Frei story. I'd hate to see him go. Even more so for another MLS side.
Acquiring Hall for a second round pick seems fine. He seems a good enough starter but still not the surefire starter at the back we're clamouring for.

what would people think about drogba in LA???

it does if we are trading frei off to someone

I dont know that Id call Frei a critical piece of our puzzle, especially as he sat out so many games with Kocic performing equally in his place. I would say hes a good player and has been particularly importnat in the past. Fact is we need a CB, who knows the league, that can command our back line, Frei is prob our only asset we can trade from our team.

Moving Frei is a risk, but I have thought it was in the cards ever since Kocic was given an extended run in the team.
I'm still of the mind that if we can get a good CB for Frei, it is worth the move.
meanwhile..

I think the writing is on the wall for Cann as a started. Wrong side of 30 with a serious knee injury. He didn't look comfortable with the ball at his feet in Winter's team, which is another thing that make me wonder if he is in the plans, at least as a starter.
Personally, even if he recovers from his knee injury, I think we need to to better at the starting CB role than him to really improve the backline. As a backup instead of Harden or Iro though, yes.
Big if on the knee though...
1) Frei > Frings for captain???? Give your head a shake
2) Based on the pickup yesterday I'd say Cann has become too expensive to not be the main stud CB. Considering we want ecks to stay and he's not coming cheap my guess is we don't exercise the option on Cann or renegotiate a lower salary using some of that to cover the cost of ecks
It could make sense in this respect: Frei is a great shot stopper, but his distribution isn't that good. I think that's the main reason Kocic took over the number 1 role in the second half. He's better with the ball and disributing it. Winter's system needs a keeper who is comfortable on the ball and will play it out to the defense. I know nothing about this Touray guy, but if we have a keeper really adept at playing the ball out, it will massively improve our defense. Kocic is pretty good at it, but having two would be real improvement.
If Frei is traded for a centre back with ball possession abilities, then even better. Unfortunately, as the Rickets trade shows, keepers aren't worth that much in a trade. We'll see.
kevin mckenna would be a great addition to the team. yes he is on the wrong side of 30 as well but he is a much more comfortable and mobile adrian cann. he is seeing less minutes in germany now and i bet he could still play as long as torsten can. i would feel pretty comfortable with him back there.
The Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, New England Revolution, and Toronto FC start their home schedules March 24, and Red Bull New York plays its first home game March 25.
This reads to me that we will likely open against Columbus on the 24th ... you know, to continue this facade of a rivalry the MLS has conjured up.
Hate the guy, but Cathal had a GREAT throwaway line about TFC in a Raptors story.
"Clearly, no team has been so put into the shade by a Leafs resurgence as the Raptors. Everyone else has at least a thread of hope dangling overhead.
The Blue Jays have a new playoff spot opening up for them; the Argos have a 100th anniversary Grey Cup to talk up; and Toronto FC long ago hit bottom and just kept digging."
I legit LOL'd. Well played Kelly. Well played
^ Kelly is just plain negative.
