Just saw this on twitter. Can anyone shred some more light?
@bill_ault: Torsten Frings back from Toronto with Werder Bremen until January. Many of their fans will hope it's not just to train.

According to Matt Herrmann of Deutsche Welle sports Frings is only back in Germany to train. I think his source is Bild.

Here's the article:
It is in German mind you.

Good on him for his dedication to maintain his conditioning throughout the off season.
i dont know german, but im sure the article doesnt mention him diving under pooltables..
This isn't a huge surprise really - and a good thing all around I think...
He'll be in Germany with his family (extended family included) for the holidays which is good for him, and training with a high level club is good for us...
Carts...
"...Money wasn't tight, but it like, it wasn't right..."
Puts an interesting tint on the "why did he rush back to Germany" discussion.
“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
They want him as a coach at some point, so makes sense they'd keep the relationship strong by offering that.
The guy is a machine. It's why he's the one of the best.
Nothing really Spectacular, He's there to train, Think it's an interesting playing here, having to travel so far for games and at such different altitudes. I can understand his thoughts here, Germany is a much smaller place then North America.
Wants to train until January when Preseason Starts here.
Compares MLS to 2nd Bundesliga says it is lacking in technology and tactics, which we already know but its a fair compliment that the league is being compared to second tier European leagues is a plus.
One thing that I found interesting and my German is very bad. But it seems either Toronto or Bremen is trying to get him to sign a contract to come in as staff at the end of his Career but I can't tell which team. He hasn't signed anything yet though.
anyone read German a lot better then me? It's taken the better part of any hour for me to get that much.

He was suppose to sign a contract with Werder to be a part of their staff after he retires, however Werder did not offer him anything for now and he does not know what he will do after retirement
He also said how he loves Toronto he can do whatever he wants without being approached on the street and it was right decision to come here to play.
More.
He seems pretty happy with his MLS adventure.

Credit newf for the find.
Sweet fuck yah! From the article Vic posted:
You are beaming while you tell those stories. We can hardly recognise you.
Torsten Frings: "Ah, after a couple months I am able to say I am happy that everything happened how it did. I would not want to have missed this time in Canada."
The picture of Frings in that article gave me a chuckle.
At first glance, it kinda looked like he was chilling out and smoking a spliff.
^^ That last comment by Torsten makes me all sorts of happy.
German interviews... in case something gets lost in the translation.

So i guess the odds are slim that he'll be at the year end party...
Just the title of this thread is enough to raise people's panic levels to 4 out of 5.
BTW, Frings is a big enough name that he would never need a trial to prove himself, unlike some North American players.
If he's there for "training," it's because he's there for training.

Frings is actually on a secret recruiting mission to get Tim Borowski and Claudio Pizarro to sign for TFC
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.
I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’
And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”
-Eduardo Galeano
Frings is my Dion Phaneuf.
I think the title of the thread is misleading.
The tweet suggest that Bremen supporters wish it wasn't just to train.
Edit: Original tweet was from Philippe Auclair.
My next door neighbour seems to always have the scoop because of his connections with people in and around the team. He told me about the DeRo training with Celtic long before it ever made the news among many other things that have all come to pass but he is always holding back certain details with me. I don't think he means to hold back it is more just because he happens to hear the conversations and doesn't really know the team well enough to give me exact details. Also, his accent is hard to understand. He told me there will be at least a few of the players we have going on loans or just training with teams overseas to stay fit. I guess he wasn't far off again. Based on that I would think that Frings won't be the only one. Again, I never really post this stuff because I am always skeptical but he is right too many times and I find it interesting when things get confirmed.
As long as he got permission....
