    Post ULTIMATE TFC: mark II

so a few months back i did an "ultimate TFC" thread, it was used as a gauge to figure out who our best starting XI would be from the past 5 years. the issue with that was that it was done halfway through the season and many of the ratings that were put out to our current squad after many of them had only 1 or 2 games under their belt.

    thus, ultimate TFC mark II

in association with the good people over at red nation online, i'm going to be doing up a massive infographic with the ultimate TFC over the past 5 seasons. vote for the players you think should make the cut, and discuss the choices here. i'll adjust the formation to what best fits who was chosen, add their stats, see if their wages would fit the MLS cap, add in subs, etc and i'll post everything when the articles ready to go.

i know it's a bit to ask to have everyone vote again, but come on, it's the offseason!!

would this be based on just the players performance while playing for TFC or their career?

i had some tough ones cuz certain players didn't play long with us, but i liked. the only question marks might be Tebily over Cann, Morgan over Brennan

    --------------Frei------------
    Eckersley-Welsh-Tebily-Morgan
    --------Frings----Edu--------
    -----------Guevara----------
    DeRo--------------------Plata
    ----------Koevermans--------

i only voted 11, but if I had to add a bench

    Sutton
    Cann
    Brennan
    Avila
    Dichio
    de Guzman
    Ryan Johnson

Assuming 4-3-3, and unable to play people out of position, here's mine:

    -----------------Frei----------------
    Eckersley---Marshall--Cann---Brennan
    ----------------Frings---------------
    ----------DeGuzman---Guevara------
    O'Brien----------------------DeRosario
    --------------Koevermans------------

    Notables:

    Edu
    Plata
    Serioux
    Morgan
    Johnson

I went with 4-4-2 just to get the standard variety of positions.

    ------------------Frei--------------------
    Eckersley---Marshall--Cann---Brennan
    --------Edu----Frings----Cronin--------
    ---------------Guevara------------------
    ----------DeRo-------Koevermans------

Good sign that 3 of these players were picked up this season.

Is it bad that when I read some of these names my reaction is "...who the f*ck is that?..." LOL

    Carts...

But seriously, I love this poll for the off-season, and need time to think about a some of my selections (some are no-brainers)...

The funny thing is, I bet there are some teams in MLS that haven't used as many players over the last 5 years as we have this season. OK, probably stretching it a bit, but sure seems like it!

only players that've played a SINGLE competitive match with the club have been included on this poll.

    Rick Titus !!!

Epic. One game rent a dude.

Not poking fun. I remember him from the Lynx days. If he was born 10 years later, he would have had an opportunity to play at this level for sure.

He did. He was Colorado's defender of the year in his one year in MLS, then went back to USL over a contract dispute (though I'm going by memory here, so this might be off.)

I found this a lot harder than I thought I would - there is some decent players here!

I ended going up with my top 11 - irrespective of position, in favor of quality, because we really have had a plethora of good CM's and a real lack of anything resembling a DC.

    So:

    Frei
    Eckersley-Frings-Brennan
    Plata-JDG-Robbo-Guevera
    DeRo
    Dichio-Koeverman

Kind of a (very) makeshift 3-5-2
