Montreal Impact, as Steve Goff, are making a big push for Michael Ballack.
SoccerInsider Steven Goff
One contact says perhaps 90% chance Ballack signs in Montreal. But as we know, these things are always fluid and complicated
Would (read: should) be a great signing if they could pull it off...oh wait, he doesn't speak French.

So two players we traded away last season (Santos, Peterson) are no longer with the teams we traded with, while their counterparts are still here (Avila, Johnson). That's good trading.
^ Nana Attakora's gone too.

I really hope they waste a dp spot on him, he is fucken brutal!!!! MERDA!!!!
As explained above there is a big difference in quality between an ex-Rangers star and Scotland international and somebody like Kenny Deuchar or Collin Samuel, who would be League Two or maybe even Blue Square Conference level players in an English context. Can't quite picture Boyd playing in Houston in the middle of summer though. Unlike Mo Johnston, who was definitely one of the main reasons the KC Wizards won MLS Cup in 2000, he isn't exactly famed for his work rate.
I liked Santos. Santos made a lot of nice plays here and scored quite a few goals. Winter didn't rate him (and bizarrely used him as an AM), fine. I don't get why every last ex player is a stiff around here.
“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
^ I REALLY disliked Santos. But your point about people turning on players when they leave is bang on. I don't know why we do that so much.
Agreed.
If anything, TFC supporters should appreciate the fact that Santos, despite his deficiencies, had a very effective strike rate with our club.
Santos may have been a stiff on all the other clubs he's played for throughout his career, but his level of production was quite impressive during his tenure in Toronto, and it allowed TFC management to parlay him as an asset for a promising young attacking midfielder in Avila.
I wish Santos all the best with DC, except when he plays against us.

Luca Toni would be perfect for Montreal...
...well, actually, perfect for Toronto FC if you think about it
RW Danny Cruz traded to DC United.
Good pick up for DC. Cruz started soccer late, and he's one of those players who would be one of best players in MLS if he started much earlier
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

According to Ives, Carl Robinson has joined the coaching staff in Vancouver:
Former Toronto FC and New York Red Bulls midfielder Carl Robinson has joined Martin Rennie's coaching staff in Vancouver as an assistant.
Robinson, a former Welsh international, retired after this past season, his fifth in MLS. That followed a 12-year career in England.
"I am thrilled about this new opportunity to continue my career in the sport I love," Robinson said in a team statement. "I have known for a long time that once I was done playing, I would transition to a coaching role."
I hope Robbo finds a head coaching gig somewhere.

Jarju was dumped by Vancouver. hahahahah. What a joke that signing was. Tom Soehn is an idiot. I think everyone was like "Who?" when he was signed.

After being released by Columbus, Jeff Cunty signs with Communicaciones (Guatemala)

[QUOTE=Oldtimer;1433150]Nothing says "trouble" than a player who drifts from club to club, Ali Gerba-like.
Maybe, and I hated him here as much as anyone... but the guy went on to win the Golden Boot (for the second time). The truth is TFC was the bigger effing mess at the time. It's great that we seemed to have turned a corner. Seems like the difference between night and day compared to the Mo regime.
A year of experience for Winter managing and Winter and Mariner working together and the semblance of a decent team already are also good signs.

an article on ching with the impact, he goes into what his "role" with the team is.
