Whitecaps got him.
Whitecaps got him.
would make sense even if we are resigning some folks
He's probably getting a decent salary so we probably didn't have the cap space.
On the same hand, don't think they would have taken him if they didn't see his value in some manner
Article on MLS soccer about Adrian Cann's and Dicoy Williams progression:
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011...uly-acl-surgery
Cann is progressing well, Williams not so much.
Cann's option picked up for 2012"
"Cann was left unprotected in the Expansion Draft for the Montreal Impact, a calculated gamble that the new team would not want to take a chance on a player returning from knee surgery. It paid, and now Mariner says that Toronto have picked up his option for 2012."
yeah thought dicoy looked great too, thats a bummer
Yup, I thought Dicoy Williams was our best CB last year. He was really starting to come into his own before the injury with Jamaica.
Too bad, doesn't look like he's going to be coming back.
Well, they had to make a decision on Cann's option...Dicoy, being out of contract, they can decide on later - if he's OK, and the club is still interested.
my take on it...seems like with a the cap and all, williams won't be ready for the start of the season and they don't want to risk taking a chance on broken pieces, so no contract until they have some sort of assurance that he might be available to play
I'd like to see TFC make some moves soon. Training camp is next month. I hope Mariner is done dealing shortly after the new year. They said they'd be ready before training camp, prove it.
Maybe worth bearing in mind that the transfer window in an MLS context usually doesn't open until late January and then runs through to the middle of April.
Also worth bearing in mind that European windows are generally closed right now, and open up in January.
Also worth bearing in mind that we don't know who will be going on trial for preseason other than possibly Junior Burgos.
And a lot of teams don't really start making moves until after the Superdraft.
whenever i see that the movement threads been updated and 30+ people are browsing the TFC section i always get excited.
then i see that it was stoufvilles post that bumped the thread..
Also worth bearing in mind that if you check the player movement list on mlssoccer.com, everyone except IMFC and LAG have released a lot more players than they have brought in. So we're not the only ones.

Also worth bearing in mind that there's been far too little TFC drama lately, so we need to get worked up about something.
Looks like Caicedo coming on loan for the year.
only thing ive found is MLSR. if you've posted a story like this with MLSR being your only source.. god help you. oh, also, do try and be a bit more specific:

Oh, good lord, it's Ecuadorian twitter chatter...one reporter says the league informed media there last night...one reporter is hedging that that the team is uncertain, most people seem to name TFC...they may have no idea as to how players are allocated, right?
Second good lord: it's geovanny caicedo, the guy linked to mls for a couple of weeks...to chivas at first...most people get that, no?
