Ian Clarke has an excellent read in Red Nation:

"Four-to-Eight" Players that can help Toronto FC
By Armen Bedakian
Earl Cochrane said Toronto FC are perhaps four starting players and four substitute players away from being a complete team. Certainly, we will see some MLS journeymen being picked up, so the purpose of this piece is to highlight some of the key performers Toronto FC may be attracted to. Who knows? We may just see some of these players in TFC red come 2013:

A brief video look back at Toronto FC's win Tuesday evening in CONCACAF Champions League Play vs CD Aguila of El Salvador.
The best and the worst from TFC's trade history.
Did "Trader Mo" pull off the best deals in our history? Who was the worst? Add yours...

The DeRo trade was definitely the worst. Its really been all downhill since than (minus the post-DP blip last season and the new coach bump this season)
You know, it's freaky, but some of our best years were under Mo Johnston...
LOL, would it be terrible if I said we'd be better off with him at the helm than Earl Cochrane?

On the Hassli trade, they will probably pick up the option in order to attempt to save face on that one.
I can't see Hassli agreeing to re-negotiate for a lower wage. He'd probably go back to France or Switzerland instead.
The Paul Mariner Conundrum Part One: The Virtue of Patience
By Armen Bedakian
In this five-part series, RedNation Online examines Paul Mariner’s successes, failures, and everything in between, focusing on key issues and providing fair and balanced analysis of Toronto FC’s newest head coach.
When Paul Mariner was signed on as head coach of Toronto FC, the discourse amongst the media and the supporters was clearly divided. On one side stood Paul Mariner the returnee, burdened with the failures of the previous regime of which he was a key member: on the other side stood the premiering Paul Mariner, a brand new head coach with a brand new philosophy.
The questions soon arose: how much time is enough to judge Paul Mariner? Does he even deserve more time than Aron Winter? Isn’t Mariner accountable for the failures of Aron Winter, too?
All excellent points. We’ll start with the issue of time. Read More...

Those of you seeking long term stability and those of you looking for Mariner and Cochrane to move on are actually in need of the same outcome.
Time is up. Mariner and Cochrane need to go. Their history combined with a win next season mandate lay the groundwork for a very rough future.

Nice article.
Re: Cochrane, you could argue that he also signed Bas Ent, Eddy Sidra and Andrew Ornoch during his short period as GM. Ent is playing in the Dutch 3rd tier, Sidra is out of professional soccer and is back playing CIS. Ornoch played in the Dutch 2nd tier last season, I'm not sure if Telstra has re-signed him.
^ Thanks. A follow up to that one based on some comments I received regarding the impact of injuries.
Is 70% of the cap on the treatment table as Mariner suggests? Does it make any difference and if so, how much? A look at what the stats tell us.

Below are my comments posted in reply to your article. A fair and balanced analysis would require that you examine the risks of being patient with Mariner, not ignore them.
Armen, there is only one line in your article that truly and honestly makes its way to the forefront .... "We’ve seen things from Mariner this season that do not inspire confidence by the bucketful."
The bucketful! Quite right, although probably still an understatement.
The entire remainder of your words stand in sharp contrast to this one line. You state it, then you ignore it. There is no way to reconcile any of your arguments in favour of more time for Mariner with that one line, unless you just ignore it. Go ahead, ignore the elephant in the room.
It's part one of a series. I'm touching on that this week.
On the lighter side of things: From Andy Dick impersonator to hair model (which from the pic on the left it's clear he already has some experience in), 10 future jobs for Paul Mariner if, heaven forbid, he's unable to do what 6 coaches before him couldn't and doesn't make the playoffs next year. http://typicaltfc.ca/ten-jobs-for-mariner/. And yes, that really is not Paul Mariner on the right, as much as it may look like him.

Folks, I know things are looking pretty bleak all around. A good laugh is often the best medicine. This Thanksgiving post from The Yorkies is pure gold:
