    Why not let them play?

Mariner has said that players are playing for their roles next season. Got it. So, why then did he use just 11 of the 18 available substitutions in the last 6 games? When he distributes minutes to players that are dressed, why does he go back to the same well over and over?

Opinion with stats to support it in this week's article called "Let Them Play"

I think because its a lie, that players are playing for their jobs. Mariner knows who he plans to keep for next year already. Those are the players that get all the playing time. The guys that will be gone are all the guys that don't play, or don't even make the subs bench (despite the fact that TFC rarely has a full bench).

Makubuya should have 10 minutes for time played this season. Got it during the Portland home game and didn't look that bad.

This one had me tickled. Also really liked the artistic touch of the strip before it, in black & white (if I'm right in assuming it were intentional).

    Good show.

Thanks! I did the black and white one knowing that I didn't have any ink for my brush or time before heading out to the game. That's why it was pencil and marker with no colour. It worked out nicely with the 'time' theme.

Like everyone else, I've been thinking a lot about whether to renew my seasons tickets. So I wrote a piece at Typical TFC on my three tests for whether I renew. If they don't meet all three, I'm done:

    1. Season Ticket Price Reduction
    2. Appoint a Football Man as TFC President
    3. Make a Firm Decision on the Head Coach

This would just be a start to winning back any trust, but enough to get me to renew.

2013 Season Seats - Only Part Of The Solution

The off field business stuff is addressed as TFC announces a big season seat price rollback, now onto the big on field problems that still remain.

The price drop is the talk of the day but isn't it concerning that they didn't talk about what they would do to fix the team? Is this drop going to be enough to get you to forgive and forget?

No - because price was never an issue for me. As a family with two professional incomes - $399 a ticket for my light greys was not exactly a tall order. While a drop in price is nice, it doesn't address the fact that I'm bored as hell on game day due to the dreadful product on the pitch, and the team has made the same hollow promises year in and year out about fixing things, giving us the best FO in the league, ect, ect.

It's sad that a season ticket price reduction and a player acquisition are top 5 moments this season, but that Dunfield goal really lifted everyone's spirits. Maybe that's why they named him MVP?

TFC Bow Out of CCL Play

    http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/20...ut-of-ccl-play

Brief video thoughts on TFC's non embarrassment in Santos Laguna on Wednesday evening that brings Toronto's fourth Champions League journey in a row to an end. Toronto lost 1-0 away in Mexico. Thoughts on why Freddy Hall needs to go, why Ryan Johnson was a Champions League Warrior in the last year and how great it was surprised to see Nicholas Lindsay return to TFC colours. I also take a quick look ahead to the finale this weekend in Columbus.

^ was just about to link to the site, thanks. John's interview with Sinclair deserves a read.

Mine was focused on a new feature called "On or Off-side". Good = Onside. Bad = Offside. Multiple issues from Heath offer and what it says about our presidential search, to supporting the maligned back line, to new trialists, to the MLS Superdraft to Frei to Media's blame on injuries to I forget what else there was.

Expanding on Cathal Kelly's recent article in The Star about whether or not the League (and Winter) are to blame for some of Mariner's current woes.

Winter may have had a curfew but without it, some players found themselves arrested. Was it really a bad thing?

The league may have nixed the Mellberg deal but only 1 team has a DP defender..ever

And DeRo. Maybe the league didn't help but would you be motivated to do Toronto a favour after the way it dragged them through the mud? Besides, after missing almost 1/4 of DC United's season due to injury, his biggest contribution might have been keeping the other 30+ year olds company on the treatment table. Blaming the league seems moot.

7 goals and 12 assists on the year ... add that to the performance last year, nothing to turn your nose up at.

Definitely not. My point is simply that the "source" was apparently saying that the league interferred and Toronto is suffering for not having that player. My view is that because of his injury situation (and age) it is somewhat moot in that he wouldn't have been available for us this year either.

If you are blaming the record on not having DeRo, you wouldn't have had DeRo anyways. Which means that the lack of depth to overcome injuries to older players (DeRo, Hassli, Koevermans, Frings) is the real issue. Everything else is just noise.
