Disappointed - Embarrassed - Dejected - TFC Crash Out Of The V-Cup
http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/2013/05/tfccrashout/
Post game video thoughts/rants about one of the most disappointing nights to have ever been a Toronto FC supporter as the Reds crash out of the 2013 Voyageurs Cup to the Montreal Impact in embarrassing fashion.

“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.
I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’
And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”
-Eduardo Galeano
Dunno much about him, he writes for that site and runs some soccer podcast I guess. He had a good interview with Kocic after he was sent to Portland. But he comes off as a complete tool here. Let's see what he says:
1. "People who say Payne/Nelsen need more time to get results are just making excuses"
This would suggest he think 2 months is an adequate amount of time to turn a 0-9, 24 point, dysfunctional team and organization into a playoff contender... which is ridiculous. It's not an excuse, it's reality. Yeah it fucking sucks to be terrible for the 7th straight year but this is what you signed up for at the start of the season.
2. "Payne could have fixed this team and he didn't"
See last point. In 2 months? Are you kidding me?
3. "Everyone thinks this new DP, Matias Laba, is going to cure all the problems"
Literally nobody thinks this.
4. "TFC needs a DP that can score"
His name is Danny Koevermans and he's injured. But I guarantee if we made the Koevermans signing tomorrow instead this guy would just complain that TFC is buying aging talent instead of trying to get the core of the team together (which would actually be an ok argument).
5. "Nelsen should've made changes once the Montreal game got out of hand"
Didn't he make substitutions at half?
6. "TFC needs players that match Toronto's multiculturalism, e.g. Italian, Portuguese and French players"
fucking lol
7. "Look at all the good players Montreal signed compared to TFC"
Yes, because Montreal actually had established connections set up in Italy to bring in those players. Payne had nothing to go on when he arrived but what Nelsen could scrounge up. Then when Payne tries to sign good players using his own club resources (Laba) you dismiss it because he's a defensive midfielder? Right.
What a bunch of "win now" bullshit. The type of mentality that has hurt this team since 2007.

Losing Late – The New Normal for TFC
http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/20...he-new-normal/
In this post game video blog I take a look at another late loss for Toronto FC and I focus on the performance of Robert Earnshaw in particular as a significant contributor to the loss 1-0 to Colorado Saturday night. I also take a quick look ahead to the next game Wednesday evening versus San Jose.
Hello RPB
I have been blogging since day 1. I find the promotion side of blogging difficult. I don't always understand why I blog after every game. I try to be a thoughtful observer and fan. I coach and consider myself a student of the game. Sometimes I am pleased with what I have written and smile over those kernels of truth and joy I have somehow expressed.
Sometimes I have just slogged through a post just to keep the string going.
My day job is teacher, I have no journalism career aspirations, although who knows where the muse and the soccer gods will take one?

Thoughtful comments always welcome. My vow for 2013 was to take my blog just a little more seriously. I read RPB forum daily. I have considered buying a membership and getting a scarf. I am on the shy side and live outside of Toronto and would probably be uncomfortable at pub nights and tailgate events.
Thanks for posting this. I've read your blog from time-to-time and found it well written (and if you haven't guessed, I read a lot of TFC blogs). Please post here whenever you update your blog.
While the Red Patch Boys tends to be a more outgoing group as a whole, with social-oriented activities and vocal support, we do have a few quieter members who like to do things behind the scenes to help support the team (and support is what we are about). Feel free PM any questions you might have. Ultimately you should do what you feel most comfortable with, but your thoughtful online presence is welcome here, whether or not you are officially a member.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
I actually read your blog quite regularly, and follow you on Twitter. But, I can do a better job of contributing with an occasional comment or frankly, just a kudo. As someone who does something similar to you, I can appreciate how a simple acknowledgement of your efforts can keep you motivated.
I can't really speak to the best way to promote your blog other than interesting content and getting it in front of peoples' eyes. Social media is of course the best way to do the latter. You've been doing this for a very long time so you're obviously passionate about your blog. So, keep up the good work!
Cheers.

When Will It End?
http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/20...n-will-it-end/
Toronto FC finds another way to lose late, blowing an early lead to lose 2-1 in San Jose.
My love for all things California is a life-long theme.
I had to stay up and watch TFC at San Jose. My mind (a tiny thing) has been absorbed with TFC's struggles 2013 and my awareness of the MLS is rocky at the best of times. So I was unprepared for a late night parade of ex-TFC players wearing Quake shirts (Attakora, Cronin, Gargan). My blog post reflects the depth of this shock.
http://torontofcfan-mistakebythelake...-quakes-2.html
The shock was strong enough (notice just how difficult it is to write about a TFC team playing a guy named Richter visiting a team called the Earthquakes and not fall into a fault of jokes and puns?) that I had to wait until the next morning before I could put my thoughts into some kind of order. I don't often evaluate my own blog posts, but I am giving this one a 1.1

It could have been a bad day, it could be that the team has not had time together, it could be that Columbus is better than we thought and it could be that TFC suffers from a lack of talent....

Too Angry To Speak

Toronto FC sometimes makes even people such as myself feel at a loss of words.
New blog post up after some typical post-defeat ruminating. Been impressed with Montreal this year, obviously, and wanted to get something in writing on why we should be on their level, but keep failing:
