Johnson's goal, the service and the finish, that was spectacular. Real class.

This was one of I think 2 games I haven't seen all year because of a wedding. Painful to miss it, but I was getting good updates throughout. Big win. This team is on an upswing!

Is it me or does their logo look like Larry, Curly and Mo the Three Stooges?!

Anyway, I'm happiest for JDG. The man of the match for me.

He's been under a lot of pressure at th club and county level so it's great to see him find his form again. Lets hope he's able to keep it up.

great result. If there was any doubting Winter would have a job next March, there isn't now.

But lets be honest, regular season results are irrelevant (so long as we finish above vancouver). The result of CCL matches are 100X more important than this.

    Bring on Pumas.

Just saw the highlights, I can't tell you how much it warmed my heart to see Koevermans round that douche Hesmer and slot it in. Almost makes up for the goal he scored against us.

The finish was pure class. He could have rolled it in but instead chips it into the side netting. That's 4 goals in 6 matches for the Koov.

Apparently they can do math in Columbus too.

Last time I checked Vancouver was still statistically worse than TFC.

nonono but we really lost out on dropping Julius James
seriously best game this season, up there with one of the best games we've ever played.

ill ignore the fact that Marrufo did not make calls/had a half decent game (as far as calls are called. Basically it was a regular MLS game)

we all do, no one wants to lose.
some of us have different expectations about another new coach.
we can leave that to the other billion threads on here, lets just enjoy the win.

That's for the MLS Cup they won in 2008 when they beat the West Division Champs...New York Red Bulls.

I had to work tonight so I couldn't make it up for the match but I was watching the match on MLS Soccer Match Tracker and noticed Koeverman coming into the match late and thinking...'Wait? He's a Forward! Usually were putting in people for defense.' This is when I knew we were going to win the match. Instead of bunkerball (which never worked) Winter went with more of an offensive approach late in the game....AND IT PAYED OFF!

And like I said in a previous post he's going to pot some goals for us now... at least 5 per season.

Sometimes the results follow the attitude and it is great to see him contributing in positive ways.

The following are examples of his positive quotes given back in March/April of this year regarding the new system and the new coach:

    • “It is a style that has brought a lot success to a lot of soccer teams in the world, so to have this here in [the young players’] backyard, I think it is a great bonus for them … I enjoy playing it, I enjoy learning more about it as well, and most importantly, I enjoy seeing guys make progress, young Canadians who have something to look up to, which I never had growing up.”
    • “Even growing up in Canada I followed a lot of Dutch football my brother and I,” he said, “and then going to Europe I was involved in similar styles of play in Germany and also in Spain and now to come back home and have one of the most effective and attractive styles in my backyard I think it’s a dream come true.”
    • “I’m dying to be a part of this,” he revealed after practice Tuesday. “I’ve never had a chance to really be a part of such organized, structured football since I got here and once I’m game fit I’m looking forward to actually be a part of this system.”
    • “For a lot of people who are just used to seeing what they’re seeing in MLS I’m sure they’re quick to write it off,” he said, “but it’s a system that’s done well all over the world in a lot of different countries and has brought a lot of titles to the best in the world.”
    • on Winter... “It’s great to have his type of experience as a teacher,” de Guzman explained. “I looked up to him and watched him growing up in Canada in Europe and now he’s my coach so I think it’s a bonus for myself and a lot of guys who play in the same position to have this type of experience and someone coming from such a rich culture in football.”
