Once again, here's a copy of the link dump I did on my own site, where you can also read my own preview, let's go to the hex, oh baby!
It's game day, and I'm feeling good, there's a sense of anticipation and a kind of special event feeling that I very rarely get any more for TFC games. To quote the kid from that horrible Disney commercial, "I'm too excited to sleep". Anyway, here's a bunch of links to get you in the mood.
I'll start at Red Nation Online, where as well as a game preview from Ian Clarke, Steve Bottjer has an interview with Marcus Haber, as well as a feature on Terry Dunfield, who's very charmingly, if naively hoping to impress Torsten Frings.
Over at Canadian Soccer News, Squizz has a stab at predicting Canada's lineup, suggesting the answer to the lack of a proper targetman for the 4-3-3, is to instead got with a 4-4-2.“I’ve spent a lot of time with Torsten (Frings) on the road and some of his stories make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up – about World Cup semi-finals and European Championship finals. It would be nice to come back to him with a story.”
At the Score, James Sharman has a one on one video interview with Dwayne De Rosario, who apparently bought a whole bunch of tickets for the score to give away in competitions, so good for him.
John Molinaro at the CBC has a preview up, with Stephen Hart and Simeon Jackson saying concentrating on their own game rather than worrying about St Lucia is what's important.
Here's a Canadian press article with Iain Hume talking about his comeback from the rather horrific head injury he suffered a couple of years ago, and enjoying life with English side Preston North End. I'll link it from Sportsnet's page due to them showing the game tonight (Sportsnet one, 8pm E.D.T)
Daniel Girard at the star, has an article about Canada looking to give home fans something to cheer about.
Kurtis Larson at the Sun says the Canadians expect to dominate St Lucia squad, though to be fair that may just be an excitable Sun headline writer, as the article has all the usual 'not taking our opponents lightly' kind of quotes.
“We’re in no position to overlook any team right now,” Dwayne De Rosario said. “We’re not doing well right now ourselves.”
The Globe and mail get in on the act with a Paul Attfield article on Simeon Jackson, talking about life on Norwich's premier league subs bench and hoping getting a game and hopefully a goal or two for Canada will kickstart his season.
