    Mornin, W.
"Failure simply isn't an option at this stage. TFC pushed its chips to the middle of the table when it splurged on Bradley and Defoe and reinforced its bet by making savvy acquisitions elsewhere. This collection of players is capable of delivering on the promises made during the close season. There are no more excuses available for TFC. Only success will continue the process of atoning for the past and establishing a higher standard for the future." FOX Sports

Well that's the season pretty much done isn't it?

I got all melancholy when writing that, but then tauro took points off pumas so there is actually hope again. which is nice.

Tauro and Pumas tied 0-0 yesterday so here's how our group looks this morning.

    Group C
    Team G W D L P
    Dallas 2 2 0 0 6
    Toronto 2 1 0 1 3
    Tauro 2 0 1 1 1
    Pumas 2 0 1 1 1

Article on MLS spending. we're number 3.

way behind la and ny, 3rd with 4.3 million apparently. given de guz full season is in there, it suggests frings and koevermans half season salaries aren't as much as I would have guessed.

I had originally guessed between $4 and 5million as the total cost of this roster and that we'd be #3. Right on both accounts.

KC, Houston and Colorado...that's a pretty successful case of competitiveness vs cost.

Hopefully that tie will prove to be a positive result for us by the time the group stage wraps up.
Pumas were favourites, but now have 1 point in 2 games.
I'm still holding out hope that we can grab second place.

Shocking result from Panama city last night, Tauro down a man for most of the match, outshot badly yet pull out a tie.

Pumas been going with a youth/reserve squad so far. Now badly needing a win to stay alive, you have to wonder what they'll go with against TFC? Hate to dwell on the past but not picking up at least a point against Dallas is tough, would have put us in a good spot going forward.

Is it possible Pumas isn't interested in the CCL? I find it hard to believe but then why field underpowered teams two games in a row?

Either they will be fielding their top team against us and tear us apart or they will continue to field their reserve team and throw away the CCL. I am quite confused by their strategy. Is Preki their coach?

Well one idea might be that considering qualification for the Copa Libertadores is through their current, Apertura season and has no basis on the Clausura - it is conceivable they might hold that tournament in higher regard and be gunning to win this season so they can qualify.

    Prekito!

I'm not so sure what Pumas are up too, they do have a huge match with Cruz Azul this Sunday so they may be concentration on the league more. They are now winless in their last 5 matches in all competitions.

Looking at the schedule when they make the trip up here (sept.27th) we get them on 2 day rest so hopefully that will work to our advantage.

Exactly, I fully agree!.....it just doesn't make any sense why they have done that

cap is about 2.7, de guz makes about 1.3 over DP alloted...there is no way this counts frings and koevermans...kind of stupid to do an article on salaries with the players union probably due to release the numbers in the coming weeks

good idea; unfortunately due to them having qualified and playing CONCACAF Champs League for the 2011/12 season, they are ineligible to qualify for the 2012 Copa Libertadores
