Default FIFA Ex-Co Corruption Allegations and Investigations

FBI examines U.S. soccer boss's financial records

(Reuters) - The FBI is examining documents charting more than $500,000 in payments made by a Caribbean soccer group to a top U.S. official of the sport that has been shaken internationally by corruption allegations.
Back in May, Lisle Austin attempted to have Chuck Blazer removed as General Secretary of CONCACAF.

Unsuccessfully. More about that here :

FIFA suspends Caribbean official Lisle Austin in fallout from bribery scandal

Lisle Austin doesn't appear to be squeaky clean either, but who in CONCACAF is ?

Shocking that a US official was implicated, but maybe helps explain the otherwise unexplainable support Jack Warner has had for years.

    This is huge news.

especially since Blazer is the guy who alerted FIFA to Warner's nefarious activity. Austin's attempt to unseat Blazer actually appears to paint him (Austin) with the same brush as Warner, but he may have been on to something. Further to that, there are probably Warner sympathisers still in CONCACAF - and just what the hell was Blazer's motivation in going to FIFA ?

more on Austin's reasoning here : Concacaf acting president Lisle Austin fires whistleblowing general secretary Chuck Blazer

Now, this is also from back in May, but it sheds a bit of light on Austin's motivation.

The acting president also said Blazer had "improperly appointed five non-elected members of Concacaf to congress."
Perhaps the same members who blocked Austin's attempt to remove Blazer ?

Statement from Lisle Austin in Response to FIFA Proceedings

FIFA's desperate attempt to suspend me through its kangaroo court affirms that it believes my rights to judicial due process are inferior to its interests of sweeping under the rug any attempt to bring transparency to the football world.

Transparency International has some ideas for FIFA

Transparency International recommends that FIFA accept a group made up of representatives of various groups with a stake in the game that can oversee reforms such as:
•Tackling all outstanding corruption allegations in a sufficient manner through an independent investigation led by a professional firm
•Establishing clear rules for dealing with future allegations of corruption, including whistleblower protections, empowering the Ethics Committee to launch investigations in the future, and publishing lists of breaches and sanctions
•Reviewing FIFA’s code of ethics and organisational structure, and introducing new procedures that ensure transparency and good governance:
    •term limits for senior positions
    •a conflict of interest policy
•having external figures sit on committees where there are corruption risks, such as the Ethics Committee or committees selecting World Cup host countries
•Expanding reporting beyond financial data to include implementation of anti-corruption policies.

FIFA is due for an IOC style shake-down any time now.

Governments need the distraction and the level of dysfunction has reached epic proportions. Of course if you listen to FIFA talk you'd think they operate from another sovereign planet and no government has any business telling it what to do.

With Blatter's size, he more likely has to roll his way out. Here's hoping some much needed good comes out of this.

I know I'm a bit of a dog on a bone with this today, but in my Googlings I came across this site you should check out if interested in all this business :

It's Andrew Jennings, the Panorama reporter who exposed FIFA corruptuion on the eve of the 2018/2022 World Cup draw.

There's really too much stuff to link to in this post... loads on FIFA corruption - people I've never heard of.

    Chuck Blazer blogs

Since my birthday in April, I have only made posts on my blog a couple of times. Once to show a video interview of me on the way into FIFA for the meeting of the Executive Committee in May following the initial suspensions of the Warner/Bin Hammam case brought by me to the Ethics Committee; and the other set of videos coming from the CONCACAF website dealing with the magic of this year's Gold Cup competition.
from his header pic it looks like they had to remove a seat in order to get him and Nelson Mandela in the same shot. Nelson looks like he's feeling pretty good.

I assume its an FBI issue due to the international corporation bribery law in the US, a version of which was also recently implemented in the UK. Hopefully they can track the rotten stink all the way back to Blatter.....

Blatter Prepares to Reveal Reforms; Bin Hammam Attacks Valcke

Bin Hammam, meanwhile, continues to criticise FIFA over its treatment of him in the fall-out from his lifetime ban. In a blog published today, he prints a letter from Valcke to the Caribbean FAs on July 25 - two days after he was convicted of bribery - "threatening them to either admit that they have been bribed or he will open an investigation to find out if I have bribed them or not!!", Bin Hammam writes.
Bin Hamman's Blog (letter from FIFA attached).

    LOL.

    Continuing to connect the dots...

Blatter sought advice from global anti-corruption group Transparency International, which published a comprehensive program it believed FIFA could and should follow.

But he tries to convince us that he was already working on the very same ideas suggested to him.

More : Rummenigge warns FIFA of 'revolution from outside'

''The clubs are unhappy. FIFA and UEFA need the clubs for a World Cup or European Championship. But the clubs don't need them. Theoretically, we could play Bundesliga and Champions League - even without the associations,'' he said.

“Will Caribbean football crumble without the man they called ‘Teflon Jack’”, journalist Lasana Liburd asks in this comment piece discussing how football in the Caribbean will go on after Jack Warner resigned as head of CONCACAF and CFU amid corruption allegations.
