Ah yes the reckless one. Winter would have had a fit dealing with his turnovers.

Sigi says: ""He's a good passer...."

Are we talking about the same Sanyang??!?

He was decent at breaking up plays but passing was not his forte.

I'm thrilled for him. I still feel he's got lots of potential. I recall he had a strong against Seattle on the road last year.

Interesting use of an int spot for a back up dm...
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

^ Maybe I'm a little misinformed or a couple of years behind on my facts, but I though that most of the US teams didn't even use all of their international rosters spots most years.

First of last years "releasees" to get picked up. Sanyang was a red card waiting to happen most of the time. I remember after that Seattle game people were talking about PSV being interested

He was a pretty decent, but very raw player. I expect Sigi will coach him along just fine for their defenseman. I think he will do better if he can sit infront of the back line and actually have attacking players present themselves off the ball for a pass as opposed to our static style of last season.

    Low risk move by Seattle.

I wish Sanyang all the best and hope things work out for him. Here, he was too aggressive, threatened with yellow or red on almost every tackle. If he's learned to cOntrol himself he will do well.

He was extremely effective at time wasting too. Definitely had potential, wouldn't be surprised if it worked out well for Seattle.

The other Gambian kid Gomez the tall center back who was injured last season then released I thought had much potential and I was surprised he was let go.

My understanding is that both had complicating issues; apparently Gomez's knee was a wreck, so he might've just been done. He was definitely the more composed of the two. It's a shame for the kid; tough to see him ending up coaching in the Gambia or something when he had real promise.

Sanyang is a devout Muslim and my understanding was going through some religious self-discovery at Toronto, which can be pretty distracting.

Both of these guys were released too early, by Earl I believe, before Winter came on board. They both were young enough to have real prospects, and would've had residency soon enough.

EDIT: Story in All-Africa News says Gomez is back playing in the Gambian pro league with his old club, Samger. He was also capped for The Gambia in a friendly against Liberia last week that they lost 3-2.

If they did it wasn't as a footballer.

But as far as I know PSV didn't.
