    Question the Ultimate TFC

in an attempt to lighten up mood of the the board im starting up a poll to find the ultimate TFC roster from the past 5 years of players both past and present. the poll results are going to be hidden until sunday when i'll post up an infographic with the results.

you can vote for as many players as you want and the criteria is based on whatever you'd like to vote for. if you hated the way a certain player played for us, but think they've gotten much better since leaving (as seems to be the case) or, if you feel that you can vote for a player based on a standout season, by all means vote for them.

you can reveal who you voted for and why below. if you feel the need to shit on someones choices, i'd like to recommend you stay away from commenting. you can discuss and debate choice over why you chose differently from someone else, but try and keep it light-hearted.

it's just for fun, so try stray away from the inevitable negativity that most threads veer towards when discussing present/past players. i'm going to be posting this around other TFC forums, so hopefully we can get a comprehensive supporters outlook on this.

i look forward to seeing the results!!

sorry it's out of order at the end. the wiki article didn't have players we'd just picked up.

I'm humming the 11 De Ro's song as we speak.

I'm at 8 De Ro's...might end with Stefan Frei to mix things up.

Frings, Koevermans and Eckersley get there mainly on reputation or with less appearances than the others but I think if they hang around long enough they'll justify inclusion

I went with a 4-3-3 (just for the hell of it)...

    Starting 11 with 7 subs:

    Frei
    Ecks, Iro, Marshall, Brennan
    Ronnie O, Frings, Gueverra
    DeRo Koevermans Cunny

Subs: Sutton, Viator, Serioux, Robbo, Edu, Dichio, Santos

Not sure how much defence you'd get out of that lot, but we should score some goals, lol...

Not sure how Vitti cracked my starting 11, but if he was on song with this line up playing well around him I think he'd be an asset.

I don't blame you ... those wide spots were hard ones to fill. Mostly guys who could play centrally but squeeze out wide.

I almost put Lindsay on the field. It really is too bad about the knee injury, best crosser in five years hands down.

i was, and still am a vitti fan. i thought that the league was a bit too physical for a player like him, i see shades of him in plata when he tries to take on the defense instead of passing it.. only to get knocked completely off the ball by someone bigger than he is.

its kinda like watching mighty mouse try his luck in a mosh pit.

case and point, in the pervuian league, hes managed 17 goals in 36 games wheras he scored 2 for 32 in the MLS.

    Goalkeeper : Frei

    No surprises here.

    Defenders: Eckersely-------Nana------Cann-------Jimmy B

Eckersely: Best RB we ever had. Wynne was quick and athletic but he can't cross for shit and can't mark his man (bad positioning)

Nana and Cann: CB has always been a weak link for us. These two didn't have to do much to be consider the best CB's in young TFC history. Also, credit to Perki's defensive system that made these two look good and flawless.

Jimmy B: Dunivant was more used as a Left winger than a LB in Toronto. Again, LB and defending in general has been a weak spot for us. So default, Jimmy B is our best LB so far.

    Mid:
    ------------------------Frings-------------------------
    ----------Guevara---------------Robert----------------
    ------------------------DeRo-------------------------

Frings: He is what you except from a quality DM! tackles, links up play, reads the game (anticipated plays before it happens) and leads the mid. Robertson, Edu and JDG can't do all those things.

Robert: He was our best winger even though he was a lazy fuck. When he's motivated, he provided a lot of quality crosses and his free kicks were deadly. No other winger has been better than Robert (before he got lazy). Ryan Johnson might be closet thing, but he's more a forward (wide left forward) IMO.

Guevara and DeRo: Best players ever to play for TFC so far! Very skilled and can create for others (especially Guevara) and DeRo can score tons of goals while Guevara can provide tons of assists.

    Forwards: --------------Dichio-----------Cunny-------------

Dichio: He was heart and soul of TFC and managed to provide a lot of memorable goals and he seem to read the game well. He simply knew how to play football.

Cunny: Before he got hurt, he was playing well with Dichio and scored couple of goals even (we used to refer them as "fast and furious"). He's up there mainly for tactical purposes. You can't have two target man players starting up front. No other non-target forward during their time in Toronto have provided goals like pre-injury Cunny has.

i can only have six of those players on my team. what a fuckin' travesty this organization has been thus far.

nonetheless, i encourage all supporters to continue buying tickets, beer and merchandise. oh, and remember lads.....all for one.

Serioux wasn't much better on the left either, but I rated Jimmy B because he was able to make overruns and sometimes deliver the ball into the box. Serioux couldn't do that (not that he played much as a LB in Toronto).

    Ekersley------Nana/Cann-----Tebliy----------Dunivant
    ------------JDG------Frings---------Edu-------------
    ----------------------De Ro--------------------------
    -------------Dichio-----------Kovermens-----------

I just put the best we have had at each position and lined them up in something that could work. Dunivant was not spetacular but solid. Ekersly was the best at RB. Tebliy was the best we have had although he played so little for us. Nana/Cann both solid for us, they could be the more physical CB, with Tebliy moving the ball forward. JDG, Frings and Edu are the best three mids we have had, Guevarra may have been more skilled but I would leave him on the bench. De Ro clearly the best SS/AM we have ever had Dichio and Kovermans clearly the best CF we have had, Ali Gerba could have been had he been used properly.

Meanwhile we can brag a bit about our midfield, it's sad that Nana and Cann are arguably our best CBs.

Yeah, I'll admit Serioux wasn't much really. Brennan just bothered me in so many dimensions I could never rate him as a player. I'd search out someone else first, even if they were a stay-at-home left back.

Good point, I did lose him in the shuffle. I think his goal against Villa stands as the best in team history personally.

A guy who hasn't even played for us yet makes your "ultimate" TFC sub list?

Watching Vancouver, Dunfield is a class above a lot of midfielders we've ever had.

Although, looking back, perhaps Vitti is wrong, Barrett should have that spot.
