Default TFC @ Sporting KC Pre-Match Thread

Hopefully, Eckersley, JDG, and Dunfield will all be available tomorrow in what should be the strongest lineup TFC has fielded this season. The new players on the roster are still in the process of developing a sense of familiarity, but I think the expectation of a result in KC is definitely within reason.

I'm hoping for a victory, but expecting a draw.

    C'MON YOU NEW REDS!

    -----------------Frei-------------------

    Eckersley---Viator---Iro---Yourassowsky

    -----DeGuzman--------Dunfield---------

    ----------------Frings------------------

    Soolsma------------------------Johnson

    --------------Koevermans--------------

    Subs: Santos, Plata, Martina

I REALLY like that line-up except i'd point Frings back (or i might even put JDG point up and Dunfield back with Frings)

I like it. Frings can stay back or push forward depending on the flow of the match and distribute effectively from anywhere in the centre of the pitch.

Gol TV is free for the time being. So if you have satellite or digital cable you should have access to this game.

IF that is the starting lineup, I'm confident we will at least draw.

I hope I get 3G reception up at MoSport, gonna be camped out for the Grand Prix this weekend. The JustinTV app has come in handy on more than one occasion.

I like that line-up very much. I would say that Dunfield and Frings in front of the CBs and DeGuzman playing point forward.

Folks, it's going to be effin HOT at this game. 29 C at game time (7:30 local, 8:30 EST) is bad enough, but 80% humidity is deadly. (For comparison, we've had 40-50% rel. humidity in Toronto during this heat wave, and that already felt extremely sticky.) Kouvermans and some of the others aren't going to do well.

They have to play smart & not give away too many chances or expend too much energy early. No idea if they can do that.

Best lineup that we can field. Maybe Plata instead of Soolsma even though he had a rough game on Wednesday.

Please, someone email this to Aron Winter, so we don't witness Harden at CB tomorrow

I am curious to see how Jeferson compares to our DP signings. They went down a path I think is very interesting (ie getting a 27 year old at the margins in the Brazilian first division). Plus it's a loan, so they've managed their risk well, if it doesn't work out.

Iro and Viator both new in the CB may not be good, I suspect Harden still starts there for this game and possibly next one until Iro and Viator becomes familiar with the other players...

Aren't Harden and Iro are both new at CB anyways?

Harden has been there in TFC CB role for too many games

I think the extra time with the DPs will be helpful. Even these few extra days. But an away game, in the heat against a team on fire...I am going to predict that we can't overcome that to get a win on the road.

1-1 final score. Frings with a bullet from a free kick in the last 15 minutes after KC goes up 1-0 in the first half.

^Isn't Griffit required to sit out a few more games because he was on injured reserve?

Could also use Eck at CB and Viator at RB.

id be shocked if they put Ecks at CB again with three natural options (harden being the worst of the lot)

^Yes, but unlike the other CB options, Ecks doesn't shit his pants when in possession of the ball.

Yourassowsky should try to stay as far away from the field as possible. I have been coaching youth soccer for many years and the one thing I look for in a player is the ability to maintain possesion, making and completing passes and not getting caught in possesion. Yourassowsky has been caught in possesion too many times to even comment on , passes more often have gone to the other team, this guy is an example of what has been wrong with TFC this season. This is the sort of player we need to let go of if we expect to improve in this league. You can of course add Harden and his buddy Borman to that list, the faster these posers leave the sooner this team will improve.

Apparently he looked really good in their Newcastle exhibition, best player on the pitch. He's more a Brazilian hired gun than a journeyman; like Emerson and Washington and some of the other recent offensive threats who didn't quite crack the euro top drawer.

I was watching a game, TFC was playing FC Dallas, there were a few attacks where the only player in Red was Plata. Factor that in.

Reception can be spotty at Mosport, depending on what part of the track you are situated. If you have one of those internet radio apps, you can get the AM broadcast. I used that a few times this year when overseas.

The Frenchman missed the last seven games with an abdomen strain and was put on the injured reserve list last week and must remain there four more games.
