In this day and age, many professional athletes with a much higher profile than Nana Attakora find out they've been traded via twitter or text messages, prior to being informed by their respective clubs, as result of information leaking to the media. I'm sure there was no malicious intent on Winter's part.

I am not very upset about this and it's mostly because I am no longer surprised.
The truth is that to TFC, players come a distant second whereas other teams try very hard to make players feel part of the family. Mariner and Winter have been busy making movements all day I am sure it was not an intentional oversight, but I don't think it's meaningless either.

As Whoop said - often the word gets out before anything is even official these days. The team isn't going to say anything to the player until the deal is signed and sealed, in case things fall apart.

Actually, many teams do the players a favour and give them a heads up that a deal is in the works or pretty much done in order for these things not to happen. They don't need the ink to be dry in order to tell the player.

The team has to confirm the team with the other team and with the league. By the time that happens, someone else knows.

Terry Dunfield isn't valued very much over at Vancouver. There's gotta be more to this.
Allocation Money aside, Vancouver is salivating over Kevin Aleman from our academy, hoping the "future considerations" is his signing. Perhaps we have some trade value afterall.
Actually 99 times out of 100, a team will give a heads up to the player's agent first just in case a deal does fall apart.
I've never heard of a team giving a player a head's up that they were being traded unless said player requested a trade.

Yup, but he played great for Canada against Ecuador @ BMO Field just before the GC, and many of us remarked that Canada looked ineffective after he was subbed for JDG in the 2nd half.
