Default What would your tix cost you at..........

So I know it's not renewal time here, but we all know what we paid a while back for the current season. The champs. league game pricing has been hotly debated in another thread, so for kicks and giggles, what would you ticket have cost for the season at Old Trafford? Or for that matter a single champs league game in Europe?

Wow ... so my seat at BMO which cost about $400 would cost me £836 ($1,290). Or probably £950 ($1,465) given that the £836 seats are so high from the pitch ...

Sorry, what's the point here? The cheaper seats are a lot cheaper at BMO.

not sure either, considering capacity and team salary are completely out of proportion...frankly i don't like this idea because now it gives mlse idea (ie. should u make champs league u have to buy your ticket)

Surely the biggest factor is the vast difference in TV revenue Manchester gets compared to TFC.

Why compare TFC to Man U when what we're watching here is more like Accrington Stanley?

My seats would be 950 GBP = $1,467 CDN, each.

I pay $1,000 CDN per seat at the moment.

But I would pay the difference to watch ManU instead.

Yeah but that surely would be more then compensated for by the fact that we pay our players $8 - $12 Million CDN (with DP Salaries and 3rd DP Fee included)

and ManU pays $186 Million CDN for its players, no?

you should be comparring other MLS tickets...a lot of teams are selling tickets for less then TFC, and TFC has been worse then any other team in MLS over the passed 5 years and some teams now got bran new stadiums that cost over $200 million (NY and Kansas) and yet still dont charge more then TFC.

Here is Accrington Stanley's 2011-2012 ticket info then: http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/g...0low%20res.pdf

Adult tickets start at £255 - CDN$393. Still a bit more expensive than we expect the 2012 prices to be in supporter at BMO.

(to be fair, Accrington Stanley's prices also end at £255 ... but even the supporters standing end is that price).

Ok cool, I'll pay $400 instead of the $1,000 per seat that I'm paying now for TFC.

Dead centre pitch a student there gets a season ticket for £90. How much does a student pay for a season ticket dead-centre pitch?

England's like that though isn't it. Students and OAP get all sorts of discounts you don't see here. Take a cinema ... typical price $12 for adults ... and you have to be 13 or under, or over 65 to get a $9 ticket; English pricing is similar, but children 17 or under get the cheap tickets.

There's also been a concerted effort in the past few years to make sure youngsters are not priced out of watching football; it's a long term investment. I blame Nick Hornby ...

Should we blame TFC because they have better football weather over there for most of the year?

football prices in england often dont have much price ranges. its common to say have the cheapest tickets at 35pounds but then the most exspensive are like 45 pounds.

We had youth tickets in earlier seasons here...

The point is that other teams make an effort to promote accessibility - cheaper seats, discounts for seniors, discounts for youth, discounts for students.

Makes you wonder about whether the MLS salary cap is an even remotely realistic number when you see our prices aren't out of line with a premier league team.
I know they have other, more lucrative income stream as well, but still. TFC is clearly making enough money to afford a better quality side. The cap level needs to be changed to imrpove league quality, which will, in turn, attract more spectators, better TV coverage and better sponsorship..

This whole comparison is pointless, even if you compare the price of an equivalent team to TFC. Goods and services in the UK are not priced the same as they are here even when dealing with absolute equivalence (like a a liter of gas or a movie ticket).

I believe the point was stated in the original post "for kicks and giggles" a.k.a for a little bit of fun. I thought it'd be interesting to compare my seats vs. the ones at Old Trafford, or any other ground for that matter.

People looking for a hidden agenda, conspiracy theory, or the meaning of life should possibly go elsewhere.

The whole comparison was for a little bit of fun, seems like in all the angst and self importance that gets lost a lot of the time eh?

And if it was a serious discussion, your theory would also prevent us from comparing our prices to every US MLS team also. I assume we'd only be able to compare with Vancouver.

    one thing...

I really like how they have an Over65/Under17 price point.

that's one of those "good company" things I'd never expect to see at BMO.

Frustrating when you see teams like Portland and Seattle work hard to get a supporters atmosphere, sell tickets prices accordingly and be the hottest tickets in there cities and then have new teams like vancouver not follow there same set up. Its so simple sometimes i think to run a proper team and yet so many organizations just cant seem to understand it.

    This thread is highly unoriginal.

Then, less than a week later, the club’s owners, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, announced that the price of some ticket packages for 2011 would increase by 34 percent. The announcement was preceded by a report in The Toronto Globe and Mail that revealed that season-ticket prices and top-price single-game tickets were already higher than those charged by Manchester United and several other top teams in England.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/17/sp...cer/17mls.html

We had a thread on this very board that quoted this article (can't be bothered to find it right now).

You could see today's Dinamo CL qualifier for 19 cents heheh

MLS should be looking at Bundesliga prices not EPL

That's good thing with groups in DC controlling their tickets and prices. We lowered ours to $22 for under 21. Which is still high but better than what we normally charge at $28 or what DCU charges at $32 for that area.
