Default TFC @ Dynamo Pre-Match/match Thread

Last match for TFC before a much needed break in the schedule that will precede the debuts of Frings and Koevermans, and allow key reinforcements to return from the infirmary.

Hopefully, the boys will put on a strong performance tonight to help erase the memory of the debacle in New York.

2-0. For Houston, that is. Last bad blowout before the crucial reinforcements arrive.

Game time temperature 30 degrees, feels like 39 with the humidex. Not fun.

I'm expecting a loss, probably at least a couple of free-kick goals for Houston. Actually I would be really disappointed if TFC didn't lose....

I'm at the point where I'd be happy if we scored.
"Failure simply isn't an option at this stage. TFC pushed its chips to the middle of the table when it splurged on Bradley and Defoe and reinforced its bet by making savvy acquisitions elsewhere. This collection of players is capable of delivering on the promises made during the close season. There are no more excuses available for TFC. Only success will continue the process of atoning for the past and establishing a higher standard for the future." FOX Sports

I can't read these threads when almost everyone is being negative. We got blown out at new york because of tired bodies injured bodies and players not playing in their natural positions. New York is a good team dont forget that.
TFC wins today 1-0 or 2-1 but they will win I know this team will do great things really soon .... NO more MO no more carver,preki,cummins,daso,... When todays game is done and the final whistle blows i want all the TFC negative coments to stay out of these threads. Seems to me like the same people that are leaving negative comments are the same that are in hiding when the Maple Leafs are out of the playoffs .... You either bleed red or the Reds and bleed blue for the Leafs. Or just shut the hell up.
The Turn around starts tonight. when Frings and Danny oohhhh Danny come into our regular line up this team along side DeGuz ARE going to do great things! in the league and Concacaf.

Only Conor Casey and Juan Pablo Angel have scored more goals against Toronto FC in Major League Soccer than Brian Ching has. Ching has scored five against us in seven games he has played

My knees got shredded at footy last night and the blood was red - but I still don't think we're going to beat Houston... LOL

Its 100 degrees down there & we have a break in the schedule coming up, so - play hard, physical, even a little dirty... Stick in and give Houston a war & the bumps that come with it, they might not like it and hold off a bit and maybe, we can keep it close enough to grab a draw...

Interestingly enough, TFC has won two in a row against Houston, but our reserve squad will definitely have their work cut out for them tonight. Once again, a draw would be an accomplishment.

You're kind of missing the point...

Being the road team, and coming into tough climate conditions (yes we do have hot days like that SOMETIMES in Toronto) Houston are probably expecting us to come in a play a "conservative" road game - a play for the draw...

My thought, since we have a break in the schedule, and two new players that will take places in the starting-11, why not go out there and really take it to them... Bang'em, foul'em in the midfield, stick in with tackles, walk that edge of physcial and dirty...

That could catch Houston off guard a little... Also, they don't have the same break in the schedule, or two new starters coming into the top-11 like we do... So they might not want to be that willing to take the bump, take the injury, or take the cards / suspensions that come with it...

I'm trying to think of a tactic that might get a result...

    Carts...

I got it, the 10-0-0 formation that Dasovic used in Mexico against Cruz Azul last year?

You're betting on tonight's game? That's some hardcore positivity there . I would love to see a win but seeing how poor we have defended set pieces as of late and seeing that Houston is one of the best from set pieces the only way we can pull off a win today is if we limit the amount of stupid fouls outside the box and the # of corners we give up.

We've done it before, we can do it tonight. Let's see.

I think we'll see Gordon pot his 5th tonight. Hoping Soolsma gets one in open play too.

I'm calling an optimistic tie 2-2.

If Gordon is ready to go that would definitely help. If he's questionable, I'm not sure it would be wise to risk him aggravating his groin injury with 11 days off after tonight's match.

Gordon is the key to making the 4-3-3 work until Koeverman arrives. It won't work without him.

Houston is one of the easiest road games we have remaining. Tonight is a must win if we're planning on making a run at the playoffs ...

Hoping for a good result, but doubt we'll be able to do much with our current squad. Really I'm just looking forward to the next one with our new players.
