I know we all would love younger guys but if indeed this is a one year deal...this is a good solution...come on you Dic's...Danny & Paul, that is!!!
“We changed the entire league’s opinion of the viability of soccer in North America. And then we blew it because we chickened out." —Tim Leiweke
I still believe Dichio should be coming off the bench. Don't get me wrong...I am a big fan of the guy. But with his age, his speed and his injuries the last few seasons, I would rather he come in at the 60th and give tired defenders a hassle than have to run it out for 60 minutes.
Dichio as our super sub would be a dream.
Or use the 2 "Dicks" evenly since although they both provide grit, they have different elements to their game that defenses would have to adjust to.
Scottish paper says this morning that Blackpool is counteroffering. "Meanwhile, Blackpool are ready to battle it out with MLS side Toronto for former Scotland striker Paul Dickov." -- that's the whole thing.

Payback for Welshy??? LOL!
Dicov is shaping up to be a pretty strong acquisition for TFC if such a thing gets finalised. He's a proven goal-scorer and that's exactly what we need at the moment. All said, however, I doubt we would use the DP allocation for him. A straight -up replacement for Cunningham sounds about right for me, but on the flip-side, I don't think he should be worth a small fortune for either.

Did the USA , of all countries, just fix soccer? - C. Ronaldo, May 27th commenting on the FBI-led investigations into fraud and corruption throughout FIFA.
^ I agree...I don't see him as a DP worthy player....but a clear upgrade on Cunny.
We've got two dicks
We've got two dicks
We've got two dicks in your box
We've got two dicks in your box...
I am sure Dickov will be an improvement up front, he appears to be able to strike the ball with confidence.
Cheers
Derko - you can't lose this one can you...he either re-signs with the Tangerines or he plays for the mighty TFC!
As long as he's healthy. His netted a grand total of 0 during second (injury plaugued) stint at ManC. When wondering how effective Dickov's will be in the MLS you have to wonder, is MLS equal to the middle table of the EPL or is it equal to the lower table of the Coca-Cola Championship? When playing in mid-table EPL Dickov averaged a goal every 3-4 games. If MLS is on par with lower table championship then we can expect him to score roughly every other game.
In my mind, assuming no other strikers are added, TFC benefits most if Dichio and Dickov can feed off of each other and inspire each other to bag a few more. I don't see either man as being able to be the salvation for the 1,1,3,4 Carver's been playing with.
I don't recall him starting a match at City in his last stint there and he was seldom used as a sub too. MLS is CC Championship at best, and little Dicky was always at his best in that league. He's healthy and will run his little legs off for this club and its fans if he signs.
People saying Dichio and Dickov playing together. Have you any tactical knowledge of the game? You DO NOT play two like minded and style strikers up front together. It won't work. Dichio would come on as a sub, I guarantee it.
Toronto has been negotiating to bring in a couple of players who have been playing in England, Paul Dickov and Darren Huckerby.
Dickov flew back home on Sunday after a visit to Toronto that included a training session with TFC.
"We put in an offer to him," Carver said. "We'll wait and see what comes of that."
Huckerby was in San Jose on the weekend to check out the situation there with the Earthquakes after he had visited Toronto last week and Carver was not certain of the status of those negotiations.
Toronto has first MLS rights for both players

"Failure simply isn't an option at this stage. TFC pushed its chips to the middle of the table when it splurged on Bradley and Defoe and reinforced its bet by making savvy acquisitions elsewhere. This collection of players is capable of delivering on the promises made during the close season. There are no more excuses available for TFC. Only success will continue the process of atoning for the past and establishing a higher standard for the future." FOX Sports
They're not like minded and like styled players. Dickov is a little guy, not a target forward or great header or the ball; he's a "fox in the box", a poacher, but he's very good at being an irritant as well and creating space for other players, so he tends to be categorized by people as more of a playmaker than poacher.
But he'd actually probably work very well with a big target man to feed off of and to interplay with.
Hmmm judging by all other signings thus far, heading back to the UK usually means packing up to come over here. Should be interesting... Curious to see how the Huckerby thing is going as well...
I'd love this move
^^^ lol was waiting to see if someone else got that too
Sooooooo, has the guy made a decision yet. Cmon, it's TFC, Dickov!
whats taking so long...... is dickov pulling out at the last second?
^^ god I hope not. How bad would it be to hear another player won't sign with us because of the turf...
We'll have the best Dics in TO
The biggest Dics in MLS
No-one will be able to handle our Dics
and Carver will be happy to have his Dickov
To the tune of "Duff Beer - Duffland Tunnel" (from the Simpsons)
I've got a dick,
You've got one too,
We've got two dicks,
That'll score goals on you!!!
