I know this has its own thread but whatever.

Toronto FC In For Owen Hargreaves?

Former Bayern Munich and Manchester midfielder Owen Hargreaves has been linked with a move to Toronto FC.
Cleansheets all around states that Hargreaves is being chased by Toronto FC and MLS new boys the Vancouver Whitecaps to bring him home and end his injury nightmare.

Stop spamming the forum with links from Vital Football.

That site is garbage and isn't a real news site.

    Their info sucks.

Can't see any chance of us going after Frings. He's the last missing piece in a championship team, not a player for a rebuilding team.
Friend still has 3 or 4 years in him. If we could get him at a good price then I could see it happening.

CSN reporting that TFC is going after PSV striker Danny Koevermans.
The 32-year-old has 65 Eredivisie goals over the last seven years, playing for AZ and PSV.

    Koevermans... not as a DP.

    Better than Mista though.

infinitely better than Mista, look at dudes record 34 goals in 91 games (or something like that) is a hell of a record.

You think JDG would of told him what he was in for at TFC. And by that I mean telling him how TFC will give you a boat load of money and you don't have to do jack shit!

Mista had 2 goals in 26 matches in his last 2 years in Spain. Certainly past his "best before" date.

Ahh Mista... another notch in Mo's belt. It will be interesting to see how the new regime does in getting DP type players compared to the past.

I wouldn't mind this but I'm worried.... look at his strike rate last season (1/14), could be on his way down.

Is he playing the full 90 this season or coming on in the 80th minute?

Strike rate is similar, or if not better than, to everyone's favourite forward right now, Eric Hassli.

Also keep in mind that his stats aren't all top division. When he was playing second division in Holland, which is more like MLS, his numbers were:

    2002–03 Sparta Rotterdam Eerste Divisie 34 25 2003–04 Sparta Rotterdam Eerste Divisie 20 15 2004–05 Sparta Rotterdam Eerste Divisie 29 24
Not saying to expect a repeat, just accentuating that it would be easier for him against MLS defences that in the Eredivisie.

from a comment posted on CSN

Danny is at the centre of attack. We (TFC) wouldn't want him going wide to play. His past season was slightly plagued by injury too. He's older now and just not in PSV's plans. Heck, two seasons ago they sold off his main strike partner in the January window and they lost the league. This year he was supplanted by Toivonen up front and he, with the other younger guys that gelled very well, namely affelay and Dzsudzsák, constituted the main attack all season. This explains his low season tally for the 2010-2011 season.

Hard to gauge how he would perfrom in the MLS. As we've seen with other "good" imports not delivering. I do believe he still has something to offer up front.

If dude can hit 1:3 in MLS, he's worth DP money - simple as that. Whoever we sign has to have more than 10 goals a season in him, or it's just not worth it given the age of most of these guys. If you're not doing 1:3 now, and you're 32, there is very little reason to believe you'll be doing that when you're 33 or 34.

Thing is he did it the year before.

And the Eredivisie is still better than MLS.

He has the size to be effective in the MLS, good in the air, has a good shot and relatively good speed for a big guy.

I just wouldn't take him on a DP contract.

I agree with this. He's a proven goal scorer at the highest level.

does it really matter if he's a DP or not if he ends up being around 300 salary? you can only sign so many 300k players due to salary cap

    Looks like it has legs.

    jouracule Mohamed Moallim
A move to Aron Winter’s Toronto FC could be on the cards for Danny Koevermans. He’s already spoken to the club and invited for a tour. #MLS
