Default MLS summer transfer window 2011 thread

Keeping track of player news around MLS

-Nick Garcia reported training with KC

-SJ has some Turkish trialist Surcen Guvenisik who scored twice in their reserve game last night

-Former Celtic prospect and CSKA Sofia striker Cillian Sheridan may be going to Seattle for a loan. He scored in last night's reserve game vs Vancouver
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

^ When does the window open? Every year there seems to be confusion if it's June or July.

Cillian Sheridan would be an excellent pick up for Seattle.

^ I thought July. I just remember the year when Carver was under the impression it was June.

The german RBNY speak of is rumored to be Torsten Frings, not Klose as was reported earlier this year.

Complete rumour, but if it happens, I'm getting credit for breaking the news.
Throwing this in here. I demand this post to be recognized if it does happen and forgotten if it doesn't

Why would Frings trial? It's not Klose as he is going to Italy... but I couldn't see Klose "trialing".

Frings has been "linked" with NYRB since last fall....doubtful it's going to happen, especially since Rangers are very interested in him...

Klose signed with Lazio a few days ago, Frings might sign with Rangers. I love the dude, he played well for Bremen but i have no clue why NJ needs another box to box and how they can afford him

Notice TFC so far isn't "linked" with anyone. I hope we're not waiting till June 15 to just start trialing guys. Or maybe whoever we're going to sign doesn't need a trial. Like, say, Didier Drogba.

im not worried, mariner has done well by us so far, i dont see us making any signings that will change our team completely but i do think he'll get us a piece or two more that help eventually complete the puzzle

I wouldn't hang around this thread for much longer. At some point you're going to get sucked into the vaccuum of "THE FO SUCKS"...just like every other thread.

Past results are not always a good indicator of future performance, but they can definitely be helpful. With that said, let me ask you which is more likely: that a) we're trailing some top-notch talent be it either a DP or a good core player, or b) that we've got little to nothing going on on the transfer front?

If things are being kept pretty hush hush, remember to act really surprised when they spring the next Mista on us.

I posted this already in "Today's News June 12" but here it's probably more appropriate... Discuss

Rumours re: Martin Petrov (Bulgarian international) move to MLS from Bolton W.
I think any team could use a speedy winger with a very good delivery and shot, who is also a dead-ball specialist. But I am biased since I am a Bulgarian-Canadian.

"Elsewhere, Bolton have opened discussions on the transfer of winger Martin Petrov to Major League Soccer.
The 32-year-old Bulgarian is one of the club's higher earners after joining from Manchester City on a free transfer 12 months ago, yet started less than half of Bolton's Premier League fixtures last season."

    Wow...

    SoccerByIves Ives Galarcep

Did Red Bulls really just punk their own fans by pretending a German trialist was coming in, only for it to be some Red Bull PR stunt? #FAIL
    The trialist.......
