Default Pre-Match Thread: Union @ TFC

TFC has to start winning matches at BMO Field with all the road fixtures that lie ahead. Based on their form all season, Philadelphia will not be an easy task. This match will be a true litmus test against one of the best teams in MLS.

Let's hope the weather holds up for this one.

How is Philly such a good team in only their second year?
You would think it would take at least 5 or 6 years to become a contending team in this league.

the trick is to go with the two year plan, not the five year plan

Trick is to have a team chemistry...
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

The drainage system under the field at BMO is going to be working overtime to have the pitch dry for 12:30 tomorrow...

TFC website Toronto Takes On East Leading Union page (and MLSE Red Alert): "good news is that the team is getting points from 75% of its matches (two wins and six draws from 12 games)".
    Do the math.

I think Philly has been over-achieving...Ruiz has been a surprise for them...IMO they'll be falling back to Earth very soon...

With Champions League games it's 73%.

Really though, what a stupid number to brag about.

For the tailgate tomorrow, is that a members only event? If someone wants to sign-up, can we do it there?

Wow, I can't believe I'm the first to mention that this is the return of.... the legendary TFC striker...ladies and gentlemen....

    Carlos Ruiz!

    Guess what?

He thinks that anything less than three points in Toronto tomorrow would be an "embarassment".

The Pitch Is Ready - Will Toronto FC Be?

    http://viewfromthesouthstands.com/20...toronto-fc-be/

The pitch at BMO Field has recovered from the Voyageurs Cup Final on Wednesday. Has TFC recovered enough to secure three points against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday?

    Sign of the times...

Yesterday, my buddy that bought seasons tickets with me a few years ago and usually comes to games with me had to cancel at the last minute. I then called a few of my friends, both my brothers, my Dad, and no one was willing cancel their plans on short notice to watch today's game (free of charge of course).

I had to resort to forcing my wife (who hates sports and refused many TFC games in the past) to come watch the game with me today.

    Oh well...

    Quick question folks.
If I haven't got my tickets on me,
Can I just show my ID at BMO and have them printed off at ticket window?

Yes, I did that a few times last year. As long as the tickets are in your name in should be fine. They can charge you $5 for that, but they don't always do it. Also, leave a bit of time for it: they usually have to look it up on a computer or something, and if it's busy in the ticket office, it can take a while.

I usually call the box office and ask for Will call. I've done it within an hour of the match before but they always act like its this impossible task.

Strange vibe for the match today. I get the impression most people are still focused on the caps game. We can't forget this is a big game against an eastern rival....and Ruiz is a twat who mailed it in for what little time he spent here. Seriously, fuck that guy.

So who's available anyway? I've lost track of all the injuries and fatigue factors.
