Tomorrow, the player escorts before the game are all the children of RPB or, in the case of 6 kids from KW, kids on a soccer team sponsored by the KW RPB.

One of the perks of being an RPB member is the opportunity to have your kids sign up for this once each year. I just wish we could take more than 22 at a time!

People on the waiting list this year will get first crack next year!

A recap of the week that was - some praise for Edmonton, caution for TFC (obviously!), where De Guzman needs to play (or not play), and a few things in between.

Could be good news for NYRB but bad news for those heading to Detroit to support the CMNT.

Just speculation at this point though.

If that's the case then DeRo is dead to me. Let him play for the US if he wants to shun Canada completely.

possibly bad news, but maybe good in a way....I love DeRo on the CMNT, but maybe time to let go and let the younger squad take the reigns. I am sure if needed for WCQ DeRo will make himself available though.

I don't see it as shunning Canada...He knows as well as most do the he is not the future of the program. Most likely in 2014 he will not be a main player for the CMNT....he still may hold a role, but a main man not so sure....

Hart has said this Gold Cup is a warm up to find who he's using for World Cup. Up till now I saw that as getting practice in for the first team. Now is he just looking for who he will add to starting roster already determined for World Cup?

With World Cup qualifying set to start this September I would have liked Canada to play its strongest squad possible at the Gold Cup.

Canada isn't good enough to not use a player like De Rosario, even at this age.

No, you've got it all wrong. He hates Canada. He hates playing for Canada. So, being the selfish guy he is, after 15 years, he chose this moment to finally stick it to us!

He's going to buy an island with his tens of millions of dollars, make up his own Country and play by himself. Wow, what an ego that man has!

De Ro has only played in what, 3 of the last 18 CMNT games (I think)...? He's not exactly a regular anymore.

Happier without him there. It'd have been tough to try to support him for 90 again, and totally agree about Dero clearly not being part of the future. I wouldn't expect him to have any role on a 2014 team outside of sideline cheerleader.

Whether it is or isn't, he wouldn't be starting in the Gold Cup (as we have players who play his positions better), and he's in his 30s and won't participate at the 2014 World Cup. I wouldn't be shocked if he turned the call down or if Hart never called him in the first place.

Good that Dero doesn't come. It will give Hart a chance to look at younger players who could actually have a more prominent role in WCQ 2014

Bye Bye DeRo - slowly dwindling any fan support you had left in Toronto. Good decision.

What??? that is quite the turnaround from you there. After the belarus game you were aghast at the notion that de ro wasn't an automatic starter.

edit: reading back over the march 30 todays news thread, aghast is a bit strong, but you were definitely keen on his inclusion

I'm hoping our World Cup preparation starts in the last week of May leading into the Gold Cup. So i'm all for excluding anyone who isn't in those plans moving forward. That includes De Ro and Paul Stalteri. Their dedication to our national team should never be questioned, but i do think it's time for the new breed to come in and take a run at it.

I wanted him in the squad, but if he doesn't want to come, that's his business.

I only want players there who want to be there.

Dero skipping gold cup is news to hart

    http://blogs.thescore.com/footyblog/...is-news-to-me/

Could all be a misunderstanding but all the "Hart probably wants other players" stuff is wrong. Apparently he invited, and expects dero to attend.

Hart says DeRo not playing in the Gold Cup is news to him.

But I'm with Regina, at some point, you have to move forward.

I figure moving forward, DeRo won't be a regular fixture on the CNMT but having the option wouldn't hurt. But at the end of the day, I only want players on the team who want to be there.

    don't like this quote....
Hart confirmed that Blackburn’s David Hoilett won’t be at the Gold Cup and is yet to still commit to the national team,
BUT.....at least he hasn't said no as yet....

It appears Attakora is finished with #TFC. Released, traded or something.

    Case closed on this one.

Sounds like this is on Backe. Probably worried that he's going to be missing a good chunk of his team.
