"Failure simply isn't an option at this stage. TFC pushed its chips to the middle of the table when it splurged on Bradley and Defoe and reinforced its bet by making savvy acquisitions elsewhere. This collection of players is capable of delivering on the promises made during the close season. There are no more excuses available for TFC. it's depressing when the best report and analysis of what we do is done so well by another team's reporters!!

    that was excellent!!

She's a sunshine girl! Us beggers can't be choosers.

Yep, was just about to link that myself. very good breakdown of what Gordon's been bringing. such a pleasant surprise. Shows intelligence and footy smarts is going to be more important that pure skill in making this system work.

And here's my preview of the game.

Surprising, not a word about today's TFC game in the Saturday Star. Not even the little game-day blurb with lineups etc. Also, their weekend "sports on TV" listing only mentions Fan590 for the game, not GolTV. (Who has ever heard of GolTV anyway...)

It's amazing how something as simple as a british dude with some footy knowledge, a tv behind him, and a few clips of an aposing team really can highlight the difference between an average club and a club that really is trying to engage the fans and the community. This analysis helps engage the casual fan and increases their footy IQ. Well done!

As much as I like training interviews and such I think I've seen enough of JDG talking about how his fitness is coming along and how good the new system is. MLSE needs to invest in this type of pre game analysis.

The Sounder's media still speak highly of Nate Sturgis. The amount of times i've counted him losing track of his man in his short time on the field is enough to warrant a spot in the press box for me.

I had high hopes for him. Hopefully he can turn it around.

I think we started a 4-3-3 tactics thread.

    4-3-3 or 4-5-1:

    -------------GK------------
    DR-----CB--------CB-----DL
    -------------MF-----------
    -------MF---------MF------
    RW----------------------LW
    -------------FC------------

    4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1: Toronto FC*

    -------------GK------------
    DR-----CB--------CB-----DL
    -------MF---------MF------
    -------------MF------------
    RW----------------------LW
    -------------FC------------

    4-3-3 or 4-2-1-3:

    -------------GK------------
    DR-----CB--------CB-----DL
    -------MF---------MF------
    ------------AMF------------
    --ST--------FC--------ST--

    4-2-1-3 (ie. Arsenal-3 strikers):

    ----------------Fabiansky-------------
    Sagna---Vaermalen----DJourou---Clichy
    ---------Wilshire-------Song----------
    ----------------Fabregas--------------
    -----Nasri-----Van Persie---Arshavin---

    4-2-1-3 (ie. Toronto FC-3 strikers):

    --------------------Frei---------------------
    Eckersley---Attakora----Cann---Yourassowsky
    ---------DeGuzman-------Borman------------
    -------------------Tchani--------------------
    -----Martina------Santos------Stevanovic----

Here is a totally 100% ontopic and noteworthy piece of information:

Today from 4-7pm, somewhere downtown (dunno where) are the tryouts for the Toronto franchise of Lingerie (American) football.

You don't understand. Gordon is no good because he plays for TFC, which is no good by definition because it's owned by ML$E. Winter is an inexperienced wannabe coach with no tactical knowledge (ignore any tactical acumen you see displayed on the video screen) because he was recommended by Klinssman, who is no good because he was hired by those dolts at ML$E.

Work on it daily, and you too can always be negative.

After reading years of Euro footie analysis, I have come to the realization that I am starved for good local technical footie analysis. When there are posts made by those who present insightful observations and analysis compared to the mainstream Toronto media drivel, I have a Pavlovian response.

I can't even remember if anyone has ever really criticized Gordon at all on this board but that's a nice generalization you did there. Why are you on here again?
