    Default MLS Wk3 (27 Mar - 3 Apr) discussion

Talk about all other MLS teams, incl matches in this thread

    Highlights from wk 2 results
-RSL spanking LA 4-1 at Rio Tinto. I don't think anyone could have predicted that RSL was going to run wild over LA like this. That team is scary.

-Colorado grinding out a 1-0 result over Chivas USA. No Casey? No Cummings? No problem! Worrisome so far for Chivas USA who are in rebuilding mode, but losing at home is not good against depleted Colorado side. (but good news for TFC!)

-Steve Nicol shutting up his critics that he's lost it by winning 2-1 vs resurgent DC United. Charlie Davies scores again, 3 goals in 2 games. (two PKs though)

-lol@ FC Dallas supporter's march.. which had their cheerleaders involved.
Wondo out to prove that he is for real and last season was not a fluke by scoring a brace for SJ's 2-0 road win at Dallas

-Columbus sucking again in a 0-0 draw at home vs Red Bulls. Thierry Henry has a hammy injury. Sutton also out with concussion

-Philly wins 1-0 vs Vancouver who had Hassli sent off.

-Sporting Kansas City loses 3-2 at Chicago. wild comeback attempt after going down 2 goals and having DP Omar Bravo sent off. Good that they've scored 5 goals in last 2 games, but letting in 5. remember, they are in that 10 game road trip or something to start the season.

Sutts with a concussion? didn't he have one in 2007 with us? that's tough.

Columbass really blew it, losing at home to NYRB. RB were not just without Henry and Sutts... they were without Rafa Marquez, Juan Agudelo, Tim Ream, Dane Richards. So basically 6 of their starters were out... and it was on the road, which is not kind to MLS teams.

^Ruiz scored the goal for Philly. Just another ex TFC striker doing useful things elsewhere.

he was lucky it was not offside in that massive scrum

the only good shot he got off was a half bicycle kick saved by Cannon

all in all, he was not that effective for philly, le toux was way more dangerous than Ruiz that game

Seattle salvaged a point with an equalizer after bombarding the opposition with chances after chances. Neither Zakuani or White nor Montero could finish despite good strikes/headers, but at last they were able to finally get lucky on a set piece for an easy tap in for the draw.

I think Seattle's bad luck will end in next match against San Jose.

As much as Wondo is consistent with his form from last season, Seattle's back line was very solid and the few goals they gave up are often wonder strikes or rocket set pieces.

My take is Seattle over San Jose, perhaps 2-1.

I love how RSL pounded LA. I mean, RSL right now has to be the best team in the MLS and maybe even in all of Concacaf. I guess we'll find out soon enough. That's one team that makes me proud to support this league. The way they ran over LA was a thing of beauty. LA need Gonzales and Donovan back asap.

apparently after Kreis took over, he turfed the entire team except for Andy Williams... hmmm...

    oops, just a typo.

still, Columbus should win at home to NYRB reserves. If we lost at home to NYRB reserves, there'd be a riot.

Did you see the LA player during the halftime interview?

He reminded me of a heavy smoker who'd just run up twenty flights of stairs.

The LA team flew in late, in a bid to avoid their bodies adjusting to the altitude, but it obviously didnt work and they were completely fucked up by it. I really dont think the venue is credible, and that some way of allowing the visiting teams to adjust and acclimatise is warranted.

Not sure about that, I mean whats the elevation of Rio Tinto? Don't think its even over 1500m. We aren't talking La Paz, Bolivia elevation here.

absolutely love how RSL has been constructed. I mentioned it another thread - but if you look at their roster ..... 5 South Americans and a Costa Rican. That's where the value is. Then you throw in a robust midfielder like Beckerman.

REally hope they win the CCL.

Pretty close, 4,500 ft, which is right around 1500M. That's pretty high.

I don't doubt RSL's win streak there is related.

Loved the LA breakdown. Like how Salt Lake is built-still hate Beckerman more than earwigs. LA should regain form v Philly while the league can breath a collective sigh Salt Lake has the week off.

NE have had a cakewalk so far. They are not their record. This looks to continue with them playing Portland next.

Chivas is by no means as bad as our competition has been thus far but are do-able. If we continue to go forward and improve we should at least draw but being at home I'd hope to see a win.

I'm liking keeping up with the entire league this season. MLS makes it easy to make your own 30min highlight show on Sundays.

the key is to beat Eastern opponents. . .
KKKREW has dropped both games to eastern opposition.
we dropped to west and won vs the east. . its not the biggest loss if we dont claim max points vs the goats.

being beat 2x means they will come out of the gates on fire. . . hope we can hold the initial storm and pot one in the first 20 mins.

It's not everything but I'd like to see them take this weaker Chivas side at home before we go to San Jose who aren't half bad. We've all seen great starts then midseason dips from our team so I'd like to see 3 pts out of this next match.

Great thread, I've been actually following the rest of the league much more closely this season too. I actually watched the week's highlights on Major League Soccer Soccer the other day, it was bizarre.

Lamar Hunt I guess. The former owner/founder. not sure why he's being honoured today tho.
They've had LH patches on their jerseys before.

An aside, and I have a stream so I'm not complaining, but anyone else noticed that the number of events available on atdhenet.tv in recent weeks has declined greatly? That used to be my go-to source for MLS.
