Default White scarves = epic fail

I am not a fan of the season 5 season ticket holder scarves.

When the anthem came on and everyone held up the scarves, I saw a sea of white instead of red.

When did we become the whitecaps?
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

I’m not sure if epic is fair – though the scarves were quite dreadful, I agree. I thought more red could have been incorporated so that the white wasn’t so prominent.

Interesting choice to go with the white.

It seems that people are polarized on this issue. It's a completely different colour and that alone would call for strong opinions on this board. But of those who like it - it seems that many will wear it more as an everyday scarf rather than a sporting event only accessory.

On merchandise in general - I was at a party last night and I was surprised by people who said that they refuse to buy MLSE team merchandise as a matter of principle. These weren't militant kids these were adults, who can easily afford it, but are angry with the ownerships greed in general (ticket prices, beer prices, etc.).

I knew that fans were pissed. But I guess I had underestimated their discontent.

    Sorry

    epic whining.

the scarves are different, which I like. I've got more red scarves than I could wear in a week if I wore two at once. Changing it up a bit is good.

haha... I'm not 'approving' it, but at this point, there's a whole trunk of red scarves in my house. Variety is good.

I already gave away the four "HBC scarves" that came with the ticket pack this year to non footie supporters...Why scarves EVERY year in the kit?

This year a MUG would have been the thing to find in the box with your tickets.....

it's a tradition now, so I don't see it ending.

You know what would be nice.... A pro quality Captain style arm band with the TFC crest and a section number on it. That's the kind of thing you could wear every game over top of anything else (jersey or jacket).

TFC FO... if you're reading this... I think this might be an idea worth filing away for next year.

i love the idea of getting a scarf along with our season tickets...ok so the white was different, but it really wasn't THAT ugly. this is clearly complaining for the sake of complaining.

you avatar is like, a dog or something?

I don't like dogs. Well people who don't pick up after their dogs. I mean really, poop and scoop people!! And then don't drop it in my green bin, because I don't want dog poop in there. Back in my day people had respect for their green bins. We lived by the 3 R's, just the 'R's were different. Ranting, Raving and recycling. If you wanted to change the world....zzzzzzzz....zzzz...........

The scarf isn't a big deal. I think the only one I really liked from the season ticket package was from last season.

Besides I only wear the season ticket scarf to the first game. Then it gets stored away.

The real epic fail was how bad it looked during the anthem when people held up their scarves compared to previous seasons. Particularly on the west side. The season 1 home opener of the fans holding up their scarves was iconic. Its a shame at this point we can't duplicate that.

part of the blame (if we're looking for blame) falls on the weather. A lot of people had their scarves all tucked in tight, and wern't going to get them out for the anthem. No biggie though.

The photos of the 'sea of red' from the first seasons look just as good today as they did then.

I agree with the Yohan...the white scarves where a fail...that will be confirmed when no one ever wears them to games after the first game.

    I bet.

when I used to sit in 223, I had a few games that were freezing even though it was sunny on the otehr side and I could see people in t-shirt.

all the talk of getting a roof..... There's another side to that argument.

it's nice they switched it up. as mentioned, we have a lot of red scarves. the white ones are a bit banana republic, but it's still nice they switched it up.

complaining about a scarf. what a life.

I like the variety as well. The reason the white scarves up in the air doesn't have the impact is the fact that there are no white jackets. When the red scarves are held, there are a great number of red coats out in the masses. So white scarves in the air seems sporadic.

If MLSE has a white pants, white shirt, white scarves giveaway it would blanket the stadium, and look pretty cool.

Like them or not, we lost something.

the famous seas of red that they like to use on BMO commercials and stuff like the yearbook cover, was lost.

I hate creeping brand experimentation, that fundamentally alters the identity, regardless of a consumer preference for tradition. Kind of like 'new' Coca Cola.
