Well, if the threat of boycott got the CSA talking seriously to Morace, then good stuff. Hopefully they do well, in the next tournament, and in the World Cup this summer. (Unfortunately, knowing the CSA, they may still be "talking" about this a year from now, long after Morace is gone.)
Unfortunate that the article also mentions the compensation issue in the same breath. Most readers will think the WNT was also threatening boycott because of that, which is not true, and would kind of cheapen that effort.
I would love it if some journalist could research the compensation & complete funding arrangements for a number of comparable national teams, both men & women. For the women, perhaps the top 10 programs. For the men, perhaps also the top 10, plus a sample of countries in the closer target range of where the Cdn men's team would like to be within the next few years (i.e., perhaps the 20th to 40th ranking). And if the info is "confidential" then that would also be interesting. Are comparable western nations as secretive about the compensation arrangements for their national teams?
Gold, Jerry....Toronto soccer fans have come to know The FAN 590 as their source for not only the play by play of the games but news about the team...
Edit : Oh, Angie... you naughty girl, what are you thinking about doing to me in pic #6 ?

a ha ha heh he hoo.. ha
^^No doubt the CSA would compare their contribution to the Assocciations around them in the FIFA standings- 70-90 and point to say "We're doing a lot more than they are!"
So we'll find out next week whether we get the Womens World Cup 2015 next week. I hope we beat out Zimbabwe. Otherwise that's just embarrassing.

Did the USA , of all countries, just fix soccer? - C. Ronaldo, May 27th commenting on the FBI-led investigations into fraud and corruption throughout FIFA.
"TFC, owned by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, has yet to make the playoffs heading into its fifth season, but the club’s off-field success—routine sellouts at soccer-specific BMO Field and a rabid fan culture that has lent the team an aura of European authenticity—has made it an MLS success story. MLSE paid a $10-million expansion fee in 2006; company insiders now peg the team’s value at close to $100 million."
I heard Mylnek (in 2009) offered $95m for TFC and MLSE turned him down rather quickly.
Interesting that Vancouver had to pay a $35 million expansion fee
^ Which is another issue that complicated the Impact's initial attempt to join the league. Garber and the league may it clear to Saputo that the expansion fee was non-negotiable and clearly back-tracked on that position when all the other candidate clubs balked at the hefty price tag.

I'm pretty sure the price was lowered during the big banking collapse a few years back.
I can't believe MLS had the nerve to tell Barcelona to pay a hefty fee to build its own MLS franchise in Florida. If Barcelona had a team in Miami or nearby I dont think they would have made the move for Ibrahimovic and sent Eto'o packing for Milan.

Barcelona, would have a massive reach into the South American market, there would be absolutely no failure. What you would get is bonafied "futbol" owner in Miami and not just some rich pig.
Just for fun, Barca Miami:
--------------------------------Ochoa(DP)------------------------------
M.Wynne-----------R.Marquez(DP)--------Bocanegra------------H.Pearce
--------------------Pele---------------------O.Dacourt------------------
D.Beasley----------------------C.Benitez(DP)----------------------F.Adu
-------------------------------E.Johnson-------------------------------
*Olivier Dacourt(France), DM
*Pele(Portugal), DM
*Cristian "Chucho" Benitez(Ecuador), AM/FC

umm HELLO!
no thumbs up for the couger?
I love cougers!
Umm Barcelona is millions in debt. Last summer they had to take out a loan to pay their cleaning staff. They finally signed a shirt deal with a Qatari company for huge dollars which will put them in the black .... that is until they spend 80m pounds on Fabregas and Nasri and whoever else this summer. Barca doesn't have the $ to run an MLS franchise let alone pay a good % to build a stadium in Miami. We have a franchise fee to weed out the pretenders with empty pockets.
