Further from Ives: Barrett for allocation $, and TFC paying some portion of CB's current salary.

I guess the thing to do would be to see how this plays out but seems crazy to me.

Barrett to LA? Umm... we need strikers.

Also: watch Barrett have a breakout year in 2011 and do us like Cunny did us with FCD.

I liked this deal until I heard we will be paying a part of chad's salary..as long as it does not hit the cap then who cares...but if does...that would suck...maybe the allocation money is to cover the hit against the cap ?

Chad Barrett to LA for 125K in allocation. I'm told Toronto FC will be eating a good chunk of Barrett's salary.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, at the end of the season, we were lacking strikers. Between our final game, and now, we've lost 2 strikers, and have gained nothing up front. Here's hoping that good firepower is on its way.

Meh - as much a I like Barrett, I always said I wouldn't be opposed to letting him go if we can replace him with someone better. Now that he's gone, let's hope they replace him with someone better

I disliked Barrett (still wanted him to go)

but i dislike this trade even more...

im fed up with paying salaries that bite us in the butt,

furthermore trading away a need, when there is no evident/impending replacement ready....

At least get a pick/body in return....

....i sense i will be a whitecaps fan by the end of the day

if the allocation covers his salary cap hit for year 1...and then he is LAs for the final year of the contract...then why not...he was overpaid...

Plus unlike in the past...I do believe that another player will be signing if not signed shortly...TFC didnt need to announce this today..

Winter has said the move was to free up cap space (so they clearly have a body in mind). Way too soon to judge the trade until we see how it plays out in the big picture...
