They have to bring in players who are used to playing the 4-3-3 system.

    I think that in TFC terms it could look something like;

    -------------------------Santos -------------------------

    -----------Barret----------------------De Ro------------
    -------------------------JDG------------------------------

    -----------La broca-----------------Gargan/Sanchez-----

    [something like that]

Considering who mistake prone most MLS defenses are, it could produce result quickly if played right. When we played under cummings againts Chivas, with Dichio I belive, we looked as good as we ever did, or close to it.

Great formation. . This is what we need to get value out of JDG
and Stop making him look lot out there. . people and casuals will easily see his skill.
He is great in tight spaces and has passing accuracy. . he is not there to run up the field and beat 2-3 guys. . . .

    I like it!
    I lke it LOTS!

Except he wasn't in on on the plan, it was above his pay grade, as they say, that's why he's gone and the planners are still here .

Big Sawker (and Serb Star on here) are right, of course, now they have to bring in players but they're in a good position to do that. It'll be a busy rest-of-the-off-season, but that's the business they're in. This looks very good.

Thoughts on a big day of news from Toronto FC as the new Coaching staff is unveiled, as well as the latest on De Rosario and de Guzman. Comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Got this from the Sports Network. Did they clarify everyone's roll during the presser?

After a spell as interim general manager, Earl Cochrane has been named Toronto FC's director of team and player operations. Stuart Neely steps up to become director of Toronto FC's academy. Jim Brennan, Nick Dasovic, Mike Toshack, Danny Dichio and Jason Bent will remain with the club.

Weird but kinda felt diffrent about the team after the conference. A feeling of higher class. Kinda like I got in cab with a cab driver who actually knows where he's going!

I do not think that it will be so problematic to switch to a 4-3-3. I think we have more of the pieces then Serb Star thinks.

The one area that I think we are lacking and will be an issue is Full Backs, from my understanding of the style, based on teams in Italy that play the similar style, is that your full backs have to be good two way, capable to overlap and swing the ball in ect.. CLEARLY we have been lacking in that department, since, well since Duni left, perhaps, we had that dutch kid, that Felinga was it, but he was let go, I thought he was prety decent.

No mention of Leo Percovich at all, probably safe to say he won't return. No surprise since he was Preki's guy after all.

Anyone with a vaguely Eastern European name I am suspicious of having been influenced by the esteemed Predrag.

    From his bio:

As a player, Winter was known for his strong work ethic in the centre of midfield. He played the majority of his time in a defensive midfield position but still tallied 73 goals over the course of a 400 game club career.
If any coach can do something good with JDG, Winter can.

What I find interesting is this morning the coaches page with Daso as interim head coach along with Danny, Leo and Mike was still their, then this afternoon the new page was put up and this time it is listed as the management page with Daso, Danny and Mike nowhere to be seen, where have they gone, though they would have had their pages left up with the new guys being added.

Letting Duni go was retarded. Especially when we let him go.

If I remember correctly, he was out for a large period of time, and was just about to make his return, when we traded him. Why sit with him taking up roster space for so damn long, only to let him go once we can actually use him.

Re Percovich, I heard his contract was up end of last season or end of last year. So they probably just let his contract run out & didn't renew.

Allocation, I think, to fuel our 2009 monster of a team.

Not really. Upfront, one time capital expenditures usually outweigh yearly expenditures. Difference is the value of yearly salary expenditures is cumulative, whereas one time capital expenditures are a sunk, 1 off. Yes, you pay maintanence, but once it's done, it's done.

Absolutely. And that capital expense is split over a number of years.

Hearing this investment has been signed off by the MLSE board was very good news for TFC and soccer in our city. I firmly believe there is a ton of talent in the GTA that can be developed.

Besides, push comes to shove, they can always sell the asset, usually at a gain (unless you're the Skydome...LOL!). This is not an expense as much as it is an investment. Salaries however are straight-up expenses that pay no dividends nor hold their value after they have been paid.
