Default All MLS Contracts guaranteed on July 1

I read somewhere that all MLS contracts are guaranteed on July 1/08

This poses some interesting questions. If we wanted to off load players, would we not have to do it before that date so it would not count against the cap?

I know we are tight for cap space and we want to bring in a prominent striker.

Does this mean significant player movement in the coming few days.

Of course this is unless I totally misunderstand MLS rules, which is possible, as I don't have a law degree.

    Can anyone enlighten me??????

you are correct on the July 1 deadline.
but nobody really knows how much cap room TFC has left, and we don't know what Mojo might bring in, so there's no way to know if TFC needs to unload any players.
remember that to bring a player in midseason as DP means a prorated (half) DP salary (200K). Surely TFC has 200K to spare.
also, TFC can always trade somebody until later in the season if they need to make cap room.
the guaranteed contract date just ensured some security for the player in pay, not in playing for TFC.
