It will be a long bittersweet good bye - Richard Peddie is the man with the vision, including what Soccer could be in Canada. 15 minutes ago via web

Say what you will, RP is a great leader and I'm extremely proud to have worked for and with him. 13 minutes ago via web
wow, that's really depressing, don't be looking for any changes to how mlse and tfc work anytime soon.
Shoppers at a food court in welland ON, rejoice after hearing of Peddies retirement announcement.
Not soon enough.
File this under "who cares"
YEAH!

Good riddance!
I have heard it suggested that TA will be/is being possibly molded into a succession for CEO
where's that clip of him mouthing the words to Cliff Fletcher's press conference speech?
As someone who has played soccer in Canada his whole life and lived and breathed the game...I'd have to agree with you. While Paul may now be a "connected" man among soccer circles because of his position with the team, it is still very apparent that he lacks soccer knowledge in general, including about soccer in Canada.
Wow. That is huge. MLSE did not have to do that.
Press releasing that, for a private company, that is really unusual. Even public companies mostly don't handle CEO succession this way.
That release is designed to make Peddie totally ineffective, a lame duck.
“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
I think part of this is appeasement of the fans. Generally, the fans of all of MLSE's teams hate him.
At a time where the Raptors stink and Burke's vision is being questioned this gives fans some faint hope that things will change at the very top.
The shitty thing is how long we have to wait.
I understand and share the disappointment in the performance of MLSE's teams as much as anyone, but is there nothing positive to say about Peddie from Toronto FC fans? In the early days of TFC, Peddie was the one in the media pushing the vision for a Canadian MLS team and improvement of the entire Canadian soccer infrastructure. I have no special knowledge of or connection to the inner workings of MLSE, but I wonder if Toronto FC would even exist today were it not for Richard Peddie.
This is the second time the word "vision" has been used in this sceneraio and it's lame. What other "vision" could there have possibly been for an MLS team in Toronto?
What we've seen with TFC are the most straightforward, obvious decisions that anyone would have made. Oh, and a few blunders. But no leadership.
While a small part of this is true, mostly....it isn't. Peddie was the rooster crowing about the dawn.
The people responsible for TFC are Joe Volpe and David Miller, who managed the process that got government to pay 85% of the cost of BMO. MLSE played a part because they took a sliver of risk, but that's it.

Fixed.
One chat over lunch with Daniel Levy in the Tottenham Hotspur directors' lounge and he had delusions of adequacy.

I hate to praise Peddie for anything, but what's your evidence for the statement that Volpe and Miller had such an important role?
I have never read an article that described how the process went down.
I'd trust Paul Beirne would know. However I'd like to hear details myself.
