Also irrational is that in the current system some rookies are able to secure contracts that pay them more than top proven veterans.
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3463911

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said it's "ridiculous" to reward untested rookies with lucrative contracts, and wants the issue addressed in contract talks."There's something wrong about the system," Goodell said Friday. "The money should go to people who perform."
Goodell referred to Michigan tackle Jake Long's five-year, $57.75 million contract -- with $30 million guaranteed. Long was the first overall draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in April.
"He doesn't have to play a down in the NFL and he already has his money," Goodell said during a question-and-answer period at the end of a weeklong sports symposium at the Chautauqua Institution. "Now, with the economics where they are, the consequences if you don't evaluate that player, you can lose a significant amount of money.
"And that money is not going to players that are performing. It's going to a player that never makes it in the NFL. And I think that's ridiculous."

chelsea fc had no problem giving Daniel Sturridge 60,000 pounds a week based on his five EPL goals in his career, but let Joe Cole walk after years of service

And like I said, the vets will get their day as they usually sacrifice the rookies for their gains.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=090...s&confirm=true

On the bright side, there are some things that are agreed upon. Both sides want to see some form of cap on rookie spending and more money diverted back to veterans and retired players. The union's model would make players free agents after three years in the league, limit rookie spending and put $200 million back into the player pool for established players. "There's an agreement in principle (between the NFL and NFLPA) that rookies are paid too much," the league official said. So at least there is that common ground.

Most of them are not. Perhaps only the ones that began while he was here (like Pokerstars).

I love how Roogsy is always all over any thread about DeRo, haha.

People have mentioned Wayne Rooney's similar situation, but you could just as easily have mentioned Nickolas Anelka back in the day, or Javier Mascherano, or Emmanuel Adebayor, etc.... This isn't anything new people.

Doesn't solve anything. It will just demonstrate that a majority feels yes or no. Doesn't mean that the majority is right. A majority of people in our country once thought that there shouldn't be inter-racial marriage.

If anything, majority opinion is generally wrong.

And I will stand by my words, regardless of outcome. I did vote, for the record, but if yes wins, I still don't think this settles anything.

And it's all about timing. The Preki approval rating in May was markedly different than the last one in September (even though some of us never changed our vote )

After a bad season of poor results, putting up a poll about money is always going to get a negative skew. The truth is that away from this board, most people I speak to are supportive of DeRo and his position although the same number are usually not appreciative of his now infamous gesture.

I also dont believe it would prove anything, whether one side comes out on top or the other. Precisely because of the same reason I never accepted the high approval ratings for Preki. People are simply too skewed by non-relevant issues.

Lol, sounds like someone voted Smitherman

And we don't get to see what happens if we sign Dero to a DP contract, if we don't but he stays on the team or if we trade him. Let alone all the permeations all those possibilities create. If the point of arguing online in a forum isn't gauging how the fanbase feels, whining (or otherwise bitching) or reveling (this may be mythical) then I don't even know why we're here. I voted, I'm very curious to see the results.

if we can get Cronin, a winger and their first round pick in the Superdraft, I'd go with that. But Wondo for sure.

If this rumour is true, its probably based on DeRo getting desperate (age, lots of accumulated minutes, decreased North American profile). There's a chance he could still produce just as much for the next 3-4 years. But its not likely.

Sports are a business and if getting rid of DeRo is the price of success then so be it.

why wondo? he's had one outstanding year. in MLS, that's no guarantee that he'll repeat that consistently (see cunty and buddle)
i think wondo is a typical MLS striker who needs a complete team behind him in order to produce. like findley at rsl or buddle at LA. TFC doesn't have a team that can he can get his chances from because i don't think he can produce chances on his own

    I'd rather take Geovanni

Geovanni is a solid player, but I say Wondo partially because of lower age and just watching the two last season, I was more impressed with Wondo than Geovanni. Sill Geovanni would be a good pick up as well.

DeGuzman is occupying the CM role and Dero is the other one in the middle of the pitch. So as much as I'd like to see Cronin back, I wouldn't trade any assets for him. especially since he would be a bench guy

    We need strikers and Wingers.
Someone who can score up front and guys who can run the wings and cross the ball in
