Portland might pick up home town fav Chad Barrett but can't see them signing him without a drop in salary. It will be interesting to see if going home is worth giving up the $$ to Chad.
[They protected Jacob Peterson, which is a complete waste [/QUOTE]
Fix'd
Barrett is going to make around 300k next year, I guess management hopes someone takes that salary off the books. Cause he is definitely not worth that at all
Chad's contract is not guaranteed...can be renegotiated,,,
So who is protected for TFC?
Bignewf. You are bang on. Barrett is due to make over 300k and they (TFC) hope he picked up, but I don't either of the teams will
is chad from the portland area? if yes he may go.
MO STILL HAUNTS US!!!
... So MLS has a poll of who whitecraps should pick. Garcia is doing well in it. keep voting for him, convince Van to take him!

.....but if a team drafts a player they have the right to re-negotiate a contract up or down?
not a bad list really, there's not that many atractive options there, sanyang's probably the best, and kocic. barrett and de guzman are probably too expensive, and I can't see any of the others being desired by portland or vancouver, maybe someone will take a chance on ibby.
as for peterson, not too surprised, I talked with him at the 90th minute party and he seemed pretty confident of his chances of being back next year.
The unprotected players I noticed:
Carl Robinson - He would make a good first captain for an expansion team. Yes he is getting long in the tooth but still a good signing.
Greg Sutton - Also long in the tooth but still a strong shot stopper.
Frankie Hejduk and Guillermo Barros Schelotto - They were the basis of the Crew's cup win 2 years ago.
Jeff Cunningham - Way to add insult to injury after Sunday. Still a good striker for an expansions team. Also another way to fuel the rivalry with Vancouver.
pretty interesting list, only really surprised at de guzman (but not really his salary), Barrett (once again the same but still), ibby, sanyang.
the rest we are prob going to rid of anyways.
anyone want to draw up a list of the players we are keeping?
bit surprised petersons not there
Blaise Knufo's family lives in Vancouver, so I'm pretty sure he's heading to the Whitecaps. The only reason he came to MLS is because his wife got a job in Vancouver, Seattle at the time being the only club in the region was probably always just temporary for him.
Complete list of all teams' unprotected players can be found here:

Protected:
Jon Conway
Nana Attakora
Dan Gargan
Adrian Cann
Dwayne De Rosario
Ty Harden
Nick Labrocca
Jacob Peterson
Stefan Frei (I)
Maicon Santos (I)
Emmanuel Gomez (I)
Home Grown:
Nicolas Lindsey
Doniel Henry
So 5 defenders and 2 goalies protected...
Kansas left Jimmy Conrad unprotected (IVES). Although he's 33 with a relatively big contract, he's one of my favourite Centre-Backs in the league. I wanted him a few seasons back, but I think it's worth maybe looking into, maybe we could wheel and deal for him?
Couple of trades.
NYRB send Jeremy Hall to Portland for a 3rd round pick.
Collorado sends Baudet and Earls to Seattle for Vagenas.
Columbus sends Brian Carroll to Philly for a 2nd round pick plau allocation.
RSL must expect findley to take a shot at europe

right now i don't see anyone worth taking a shot on...either due to their international status or $$$
we will find out on Wednesday I guess (anyone know what time?)
