Lenhart is a solid bench player on the cheap. I seem to remember sticking a dagger in our collective hearts at some point.

I see Chicago left Lundberg unprotected. He must have definite plans to go back to Europe.

This CAN'T be right. Barrett and JDG unprotected?
Mark my words Barrett with 12+ goals and a half dozen assists with new team.
We protected Harden and Peterson? WTF?!?!?

    Oh my

Chad Barrett is outta here for sure. One of the two teams are gunna take him
    De Guzman too.

    We're fucked.

They protected Jacob Peterson, which is good.

I doubt anyone takes De Guzman but Barrett, Sanyang and Saric are probably all gone.

It's a catch 22. He has a High Salary and relatively low numbers. I'm not that surprised. It's more for technical reasons than anything. I don't think Portland will want that expensive of a striker. I may be wrong but compared to others in the unprotected lists Chad might just squeak out unscathed.

I thought DPs were automatically protected ... or did they change that rule.

I'm surprised to see Barrett there. I guess they are giving up on him ... which would give me more comfort if we had any other strikers who could score.

Who the hell is going to take Chad at his price tag? Come on! JDG is safe too. I can't see either team chomping at the bit to take any of those players. Too bad

Chad needs to go if the team plans on making any significant changes up front for next season. He is simply not reliable enough a striker, and has proven it now over a few years.
I am surprised Nane and Sanyang are on this list; both have a lot of upside, and cost very little, you need players like them to build a competitive team.
Garcia on that list is a joke: he should be dropped from the team immediately. Most of the other guys you can take or leave, including JDG. Nobody would take him for a tenth of the salary TFC pays him, his unprotected status is meaningless, we are stuck with him for another year. Too bad Robinson had to leave, he was a much better tackler and played with inspiration and dedication, traits that JDG left in Spain.

We can only lose two players tops.

This thread should be merged with the expansion draft thread that has all the rules.

Chad has a hefty salary to take on. Saric? Not great value. Sanyang... Unless he Is really concussed is an attractive one
That's all I'll say about that.

Hoping Barrett doesn't leave, I actually rate him. Wish Garcia would go! I think its obvious de Guzman was left unprotected as no-one will pay him that and it doesn't waste of the 11 slots.

Sanyang wouldn't count against the cap next year, so they must really want to get rid of him.

No Emmanuel Gomez on the list but Sanyang is? Was he on big bonuses or something?

Barrett got 7 MLS goals in 23 games. That is why we need to get rid of him. If one of the new teams is stupid enough to pick up JDG, a no-goal wonder who defends without tackling, who rarely works up a sweat even when it is a hundred degrees out, yea, it would be good if this happened, this would be no great loss at all.

sanyang (who I think is a decent bench player) is one of the last of the mo / first wave signings, so I can see why they'd consider sacrificing him just to cut ties with that whole camp.
